It depends on the rules in his prison. Some do allow medications prescribed by a private doctor, but most only permit RX medications from their own medical staff, which they will also provide.

It may be possible to find the RX formulary for that jail, or the private company that has the jail's medical contract. If so, you can see what medications are possible for Hepatitis B, and have him make a written request to receive them.

When my hub was arrested, I was able to bring him a medication he was taking to the jail. (along with his mouthpiece to keep him from grinding his teeth at night) they allowed both after examining them. Tho his meds were just a course with no refills.

Depending on the rules of the prison. Make sure that there's also doctor's prescription.

You need to call wherever it is he's going to go. They will check their formulary (the list of the drugs the prison regularly describes) and will either have it or you will have to make arrangements with them for getting meds to him.
Get all the paperwork on his illness together - the diagnosis, the prescription, etc. - before you call, and send copies to the warden and the head of the medical unit, if they have one.

And, whatever else you do, make sure he's signed a HIPAA statement for your state that someone can keep permanently. That's much more important than you might think!
