NYS Inmates need masks: We need people to call the Governor's office

We need people to call the Governor's office and leave a message that inmates need masks. Fishkill has to many cases and are being shipped up North. Inmates are not being tested. At the very least, inmates need real masks to protect themselves.

MALONE — As many as 60 inmates from the Fishkill Correctional Facility in Dutchess County are being transferred to Upstate Correctional Facility in Malone.

The move is reportedly necessary because Fishkill is suffering from staffing shortages because of COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.

Three New York lawmakers from the Hudson Valley say inmates in state prisons should be given protective face masks to reduce the risk of contracting the coronavirus.

State Sen. Jen Metzger, D-Rosendale, Assemblyman Jonathan Jacobson, D-City of Newburgh, and Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, D-Ossining, urged the distribution of masks in a letter to Anthony Annucci, the acting commissioner of the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS).
