Post Federal judge orders improvements to Mississippi's death row

Federal judge orders improvements to Mississippi's death row

Jackson, Mississippi-AP -- A federal judge says no one, no matter what they've done, should be forced into exposure to another person's bodily wastes.

U-S Magistrate Jerry Davis says the "filthy conditions" on Mississippi's death row are so bad they violate the Constitution. He's ordering mental health exams, better toilets and other improvements for inmates who say they're being driven insane.

Corrections Commissioner Chris Epps says Mississippi's death row is no worse than any other across the country. He says he'll challenge some orders and seek clarification on others.

Carolyn Clayton, who helped found the victims' rights group Survival Incorporated, says she can't disagree with the ruling. She says, "Even though they've done some horrific things, they are still human beings."

Here is a link with the whole story and also a picture of their cells. Tracy is mentioned in the article and named in the suit. They tried to get the Gov to stays Tracys execution so he could testify at the hearing, but they won't. But all I can say Now is WE won Tracy!!!!! He wanted this victory so much for the friends he was leaving behind.
