Post 18 days til everything changes

Going in for custody/plea on February 17th. My charges have been amended down. DA is asking for a split; one year plus 18 months probation, counsel is lobbying for 9 and 18. Must agree to a mental eval and some other business, done everything I can to prepare myself I've been able to tell one of my brothers, told my mom I had terrible news but she didn't want to hear it. Hoping I can take decent care of myself inside and avoid as much nonsense as possible. Hoping I can work for myself or anything after I have a record. Want to do anything but be a burden on others when I get out.

I hope your lawyer can convince your judge to impose the shorter sentence and you have a stay that minimizes the nonsense too.

You can do it with a short sentence. Won't be fun but take it 1 day at a time & keep focusing on that's 1 day less before you walk out. The thing to remember is probation is what can trip you up. Be sure you understand all requirements & follow them to the letter. They don't play if you even accidentally break a rule on probation.
While you're inside make a list of goals for when you get out. Make sure your driver's license, car registration, etc are up to date. Have someone get your mail & handle anything that comes up. Having all that ready for when you get out makes it a lot easier.
Do some research on reentry groups in your area. They can be a source of support & assistance for job related things too. Hang in there. Take a deep breath & you can get through this.

I ordered my son some magazines from https://www.inmatemagazineservice.com/index.php/en/ . They have a really good selection of all types of magazines. They have gone up in price since we did it but still isn't bad. We did the 6 subscription plan. I even had them change the address after he was released. You might look into what they offer & then have someone order them for you once you have your location & ID #. It helped him pass the time & keep up with current things that interested him.

Update: Been able to tell everyone, mom, brothers, aunts, uncles, haven't talked with cousins yet, took care of the money, my possessions, my teeth, just about everything, going in on the 17th for good, going to Worcester house of correction, hoping to take care of myself as best as I can and avoid as much hate and violence as possible, emailing famiy/prisoner resources to my mother, turning myself in with a small amount of money, hoping it'll get on my books immediately, hopefully I can come back and let you know that things weren't too, too bad for me, I'll let you know, thanks for your support, thanks and gl

Take all the money you can. It will be on your books from day 1. If you get along with people it will be easy. Read some good books....Buy vitamins on comissary and take them.It is a different world ,but not that much different. You will meet alot of people who you would have never met before but remember, you can learn something from all of them.
