Any of y'all know of a good supplement to take for hair growth? I've read mixed reviews on biotin but if any of you have personal experience with a specific supplement I'd love to hear
I won't claim that biotin is a miracle supplement because I don't think that's fair, but I do think it helps improve your overall hair/skin/nail health.
I tried it for the first time about two years ago because I was having a lot of hair fall, but had a terrible reaction. I started taking 10,000mcg every day and developed cystic acne. Stopped taking it after two months, acne went away. I later read that maybe it was too high, start with a lower dose. So now I take one every other day. No acne, in fact my skin looks better. My nails have improved a bit (genetically screwed there). My hair? It's ok. I can't say it's worlds better but it's healthy.
The other thing I do is use castor oil on the thinner spots and my sparse brows. It's gross, goopy and smells...nutty? so I'm a little lazy with it, but my brows have filled in quite a bit and I've got baby hairs where I've been using it.
I take biotin at 2,500mcg a day. I wash my hair with a biotin and collagen shampoo, use a keratin leave in conditioner, and once a week I do a rinse with apple cider vinegar. I don't think my hair has ever been better.

Thank you both very much! I have been a tad skeptical on taking biotin as some people have said it can cause headaches? Me and pain don't mix well together lol I actually just bought a little bottle of castor oil! I have yet to try it out but now I am more excited I hope it helps my brows as well they are a little sparse hehe thanks Miamac!
Maybe I can try biotin at a lower dosage! I have never heard of biotin and collagen shampoo!!! That sounds revolutionary!! Thanks for that tip,Lorraine I'm going to look into that

I take biotin too and my hair and nails are growing much faster. I take the 10,000 mcg ones.
Thank you 😊 I will see if I can work up to that! I just cut my hair not too long ago and I regret it so much! I have dyed it so much as well boo boo but the cut was good to get rid of dead hair now I'm trying to take care of it and grow it out long again

I have the same issue, I color my hair every couple months and it was so damaged. I cut it to my shoulders and then started taking the biotin it's helped so much my hair is very shiny and healthier and is growing faster than before.

Ha. I had forgotten about this thread. I can update-- still taking biotin but it made a HUGE difference when I found a brand that worked for me. I'm taking Nature's Bounty gummies, two a day. Sometimes three because they're just tasty. LOL I've seen the most hardening of my nails ever and my hair has "stabilized" in terms of fallout. I'll take it!
