Shouldn't we be able to get another court appointed attorney?
I have went to court several times to support my fiance'. I have noticed that his attorney is the ONLY attorney that does not commingle with the DA at all! My fiance's parents one from California and the other from DC came to court one of the times with me. They both noticed the same. After his attorney went infront of the Judge we (his parents, myself, and the attorney) went back to discuss the situation. The first thing that came out of the attorneys mouth was something to the effect that she doesn't really get along with the DA, she doesn't really have a good rapport with her and that she just feels that my fiance' should sign for the 25 years! Now their were some other incidents as well like my fiance' would be taken to court (his is still in County) and his attorney would not be there? Another time he had court and she did not even let him know. If I would have know I would have been there. He had court again last month and the only reason we knew was because I called the District clerks office and let him know! He has been in county for a year this month now. The attorney is asking for a motion of suppress I believed she called it and? I guess the DA made smart comments "like now she wants to file a motion to suppress". The attorney told my fiance', "see she is making smart remarks to me." I am sorry if she is having a rough time with the DA, however, I do not think her clients should have to pay?
You’re in a tough spot and I feel for you. Yes, 25 years is no laughing matter and I can empathize with your unhappiness. You might consider posting a thread over in the legal forum that may draw some attention from someone there, too, that may have some good input. I don’t know what to really say, although I’m no stranger to 25 year sentences or attorneys that act as if they’d rather be out playing golf instead of doing a better job.

My only thought is to look into what all you need to get together evidence-wise to file for "Ineffective Counsel" and see if you can get his current lawyer thrown off and a new attorney assigned to his case.
