Default Abuse and racism at NBCI in Maryland

We are trying to give a voice to the men behind the wall at north branch.Racism has always been the norm but is now worse. They have been on numerous lockdowns. Miles from friends and family these stories need to be heard. We are writing reisterstown road, media and anyone else who can help. Many men there should not even be maximum security but were transferred when the house of correction was closed. Behind walls and barbed wire fences abuses are committed and the only place to complain is to those perpetrating these acts. Only pressure from the outside can bring the darkness which goes on at NBCI to light. Please help. Share stories, call, write letters.these men need to be heard!

I received this letter from DPSCS:

Dear Ms Fletcher:

This correspondence is in response to your letter dated August 29, 2013. You voice your concerns regarding inmates being safeky housed at NBCI. The individuals housed at NBCI are being treated within guidelines, policy, and procedures set forth by Maryland laws, COMAR, and the Dept of Corrections. Inmates are being fed three meals a day in their cells, including one hot lunch meal. Inmates are receiving medical care as needed and medications prescribed. Showers are provided as time permits and each cell has a sink and toilet. Also, they are permitted limited commisary, limited telephone calls and special visits as approved. It is our commitment to keep staff and inmates safe. The violent behavior of inmates housed at NBCI jas brought NBCI to its current lockdown status. The istitution is still receiving threats which will require close monitoring. We are developing programs and procedures to deal with more difficult inmates. This will allow hose inmates whose behavior is poor to be confined with greater control and those who are complying with rules and regulations will be afforded less restrictive management. The instituion will return to normal operation as these issues are resolved. I thank you for your letter and I hope this response has addressed your concerns, If you should have additional concerns, please feel free to contact my office.
Sincerely,
J. Michael Stouffer Deputy Secretary.

Of course I have additional concerns. My biggest issue with this letter is that, its a fucking lie! I have to get my emotions together and send this man another letter. Idk what investigating he's done to write me some bs like this, but I am not going for it. My loved one is in there being treated like shit and you think that you can send me some bogus bullshit ass letter and I'm gonna be cool with it, hell no.

When my husband does call, I hear the same bs. He says that he denies trays for days at a time because the CO be coughing all over the food or scratching their head while carrying the tray. My sister's boyfriend tells her how the feed them cold food with frost still on the burgers. The 1st visit that was approved I missed because when I called they told me that the visit was denied. When I finally did make it up there, I cried the entire visit, they had him chained and shackled in a damn locked room. I'm like wtf is the point of that, he's locked in a room with nowhere to go! I've contacted too may ppl without a reasonable response. I will now reach out to the damn media, something has to give!
