Default Budget cuts and how they affect us

Has anyone heard that they will be doing more lockdowns and eliminating certain visiting days to save money and reduce the state budget. I haven't heard anything about this but if anyone has please share what you know. In some ways the problems with the economy will affect us and our loved ones who are away. If so I think this is wrong to have more lockdowns when people are sticking to the rules. Why are they being punished like that because the state is short on Money. A lot of inmates need visits to help them cope and keep their families together.

I think they should just do like california and relase them, help them get training or jobs so they can work and put money back into the economy.

My hubby is at MCTC and we were just talking about this. He said that they had not been informed about any more mandatory lock down days without visits. But we know they just may not have informed the inmates yet. I agree with you. What if the weekday is the only day you could come and see your loved one. It's CRAZY.

visit cost money because you have to have a full staff to man the visiting room.

Just imagine if they kept our men locked up most of the time, they can cut staff for guards, kitchen workers etc. when there is no movement the inmates are easier to control

I wonder how many more of the smaller prisons will wind up closed due, and guys being packed in like sardines because of the budget cuts. Even though they are granting paroles left and right, new guys come in 10 feet deep every day to take their place.

Define Normal? Normal is what you know.

My man said the food at JPRU is getting just as bad as the food was at the pen....and no more pancakes! I guess this affects me because daddy is going to start wanting to buy some non-nasty food.

My husband is at ECI too and he tells me the same thing about the food. He says it is the same 3-4 meals every week.

ECI is now locking down on some Mondays too, per my love. No phone call today, 1st monday since he told me. He said that they are charging for things like shorts when the state is suppose to provide them at no cost. Hopefully the state will let them come home and be under home arrest since they need to cut cost!
