Default County By County Listing (Marriage Licenses)

I was busting my brain earlier trying to find a county by county listing of Florida Clerks offices that would issue a marriage license to inmate couples. Not every county in Florida do this, in fact there are only a few that actually do. Unless I missed it, I did not find what I was looking for. I would like to create one for Florida couples.

I will start by listing those that I am aware that do issue them, and anyone who knows of other counties please list so that I can edit them in. Thanks!

Baker
Escambia
Hardee (Only if incarcerated within Hardee County)
Polk

I also called Escambia Co because they are closer to me and you must have a picture ID for your fiance' and their prison ID is not acceptable. The lady said it must be a DL or State Issued ID card. That's all well and good if you haven't been in long and your DL hasn't expired.

Default Dade County Marriage License

You must first get the approval back from the prison and then go to clerk of courts with it and they will tell you what to do then. You can call them before you go so that you have all of the info you need. You'll need any dates that have to do with prior divorces etc. They should help you over the phone. If inmate is not in Dade, make sure they will issue for another county.

First step when he gets to his permanent camp, he will have to put in request at prison to start the process. He'll have to make the first move and the prison has to make ok it, then they send to doc and they have to approve it. You sometimes have to call a couple of times to his classification officer and depending upon which facility, You may have to call Tallahassee to get them moving a bit faster. It may take up to 6 months or more from when you start. Nothing can be done now if jail says no until he get to his permanent location. They will do nothing at the reception center except focus on getting him ready to transfer to permanent place.

I have heard of people getting married at county jail - lee county in particular, but it required a judges authorization.

Brevard also does it in person as well. My husband was in DeSoto so I believe DeSoto does it as well. I thought as long as his part was done by a notary as well any county in FL honored them. That's so wrong if all counties don't do this.

At some of these counties they may not know exactly what is going on in this case as I'm sure it is unusual. You may be able to get the chaplain to help by calling the county. The only thing that the DOC gives you is the acceptance form, which is what they really need. The person you talked to may not understand what we don't have access to. You may need to talk to someone else.

Maybe I used the wrong words.....guess I should have said "non-DL license"? But I get your point.....one county basically told me they were doing us a favor because it's against the law to issue the license w/out both parties being present. So now the government is breaking the law and admitting it?

Pasco will also but you have to jump though alot of hoops to get it done..
and if I didn't have his ID from when he first got out I would be SOL even that was not enough.

What I did was:
  1. Got his birth cert.
  2. his old ID from the first time in/out
  3. I made a Screen print of his DOC web page (printed it out) making sure that the DOC web site address was showing and that the updated date was also showing with his picture name and everything and because the DC # was the same on the page as it was on the ID they said yes.
A screen print is done by holding down your
Right hand Alt key and your

Print
Screen
SysRq
key... (its found above your number pad on your key board)

Then open a word doc click on the body of the doc and hit paste, it will show right up there and then you can print it... do not change anything on it at all just bring it in...

I have also found that if you bring what you have in before you have to get anything and ask them if you can use those you are more apt to get a then when you call them and they can't see what you do have..

Calling in that way always reminds me of when I used to sew for a living and someone would call and say how much do you charge to hem a dress... I would ask what kind is it.. well its just a simple dress... nothing to it.. Well you have so many different dress types that there is no way to know what it will cost till you see it.. so I wouldn't even bother telling them how much it would cost...
