Default Questions on "Exercising Custody"?

My husband called and asked me to see if I can find out any information on exercising custody. I am so not exactly sure what he is talking about, but from what I gather from our phone conversation it is where he has to be in custody for so long (90 days?) before he can be moved to work outside the gates.

His classification is minimal (almost community) and his CO at NWFRC told him he scored for a work camp. He just got to moved to Suwannee CI on Monday. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? I am also looking for information on SCI.

Just to update in case anyone else has this question.

I spoke to my husban's classifications officer and asked him what it meant. His answer was that the inmate had to get a job inside the gate for a certain amount of time to prove that they were trustworthy. At the end of that time period, they will be re-evaluated for a job "outside the gate." So, "exercising custody" is basically just proving you can be trusted to get more "freedom".

In this phone conversation, I also learned that all of this also plays a role in him being transferred to a work release camp at some point. He can not have more than 19 months left on his sentence.

Hope this might help someone.

Thank you for responding. Since I have had a ton of questions since starting this unwanted journey, and not finding answers, I decided to try to update the Florida threads when I can. If for no other reason than to help someone else.

Now, on to my next set of questions.....Work Release in Florida and what to expect.
