I met my girlfriend through pen pals. How much time seems to be subjective. If I was a victim of drugs, sex offense, or murder there will always be someone will say they should rot in there. My girlfriend who was married at the time of her crime with her second husband committed incest and got 50 years. I guess what I'm saying is, when is enough, enough. She got more then a murderer. When she gets out will registered and wear ankle braclet life time probation. Sure what she did was bad. But what happens after so much time in they come out worst. I have compassion. 93% of all sex offenses are with family or people they know. Fix the family dont destroy them.

My father received 20/40 for home invasion and my husband is sitting on 20 for a robbery he didn't do (it is being fought) and the evidence proves it.

I called the police to do a welfare check on my man, he said he wanted to die and he was to much of a coward that he would have the police shoot him. My man attempted suicide by cop, fired rounds out of a gun while extremely intoxicated trying to get the cops to kill him and they sentenced him to 15 years in prison at 51 years old. He wanted to die then and now he wants to even more. Never injuring anyone.Sad thing is his family and me tryed to have him committed three times before this incident and the same cops in this backwards little town told me they can’t make him go to treatment. If they would have taken him just once this all could have been avoided and he could have gotten treatment. When they sentenced him in the courtroom that day, I collapsed and went to emergency department for a panic attack and was treated with anti anxiety medicine and told my mother I felt so hopeless the nurse called the police. I had refused to talk to this cop as I have no trust in any cops anymore in this small town and I was brutally dragged out of the hospital and brought to a mental hospital because I might be suicidal. I have physical injuries from this. How can they keep getting away with this corruption in this small town. Oconto County, wi.

Many cases same or much worse or lengthy criminal history never went federal and got 1/3 of the time. No consistency in sentencing.

Default Yes, too much time!

I definitely feel my boyfriend got too much time for a stolen car and supposed chop shop, because he had stripped the car. He is serving 41/2 years of a 10 year sentence, which is more than inmates who have violent offenses. I think his record of shoplifting anda prior stolen car played a role in the harsh sentence, the judge was tired of seeing his name cross his desk over the years. Maybe he has learned his lesson this time, and he will stay off heroin so he has no reason to commit crimes, but I have my doubts. I love him so I'm not giving up on him yet!

Nah! His sentence wasn't harsh at all. I think the time he was given wasn't too bad...it could of been worse. So he got lucky with the time he did receive.

I say yes because of the completely inconsistent way sentences are handed down. I've seen many people who have committed the same or more serious crimes get lighter sentences and it makes no sense.

Mine got 20 for felony murder - although he was only guilty by association. Guess it could be much worse, but, I wish he'd fought it.

Yes! Mine got 14 years for a DUI, not his first but still, Ridiculous! Especially when I know someone is doing a year for Rape, someone did 6 months in a work center for 3rd and subsequent possession with intent and Grand/Petite Larceny and yet another who got his charges of first degree burglary, A&B and felon in possession of a firearm dropped, now tell me where the justice is in that!!! Oh and the DUI, he blew 0.07

Mine is lucky he only got 3 years and 5 years probation for what he did. Plus this is his first offense and it was non-violent so he is eligible for shock so he can get out as soon as the end of this year. He did 9 months already.

He got lucky. Six months in SAFP for possession and felon in possession of a firearm charge. More than likely he will release to home instead of the halfway house as well.

my daughter was just sentenced to 5years prison and 20years probation in the state of georgia for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, first time arrested, never even had any misdemeanor offenses. the intent to distribute crap was because they had a single marijuana plant in backyard that they were cultivating. this whole case was a travesty of justice. cops called a news conference when she and bf were arrested claiming they had found suspected lsd, heroin and cocaine as well as marijuana. well guess what, no other drugs found because they don't use or sell drugs. marijuana was for personal use. we went through 3 different attorneys, each equally inept but because we have had zero exposure to the criminal justice system, we didn't realize how little they did to help her case until she got to prison and she started hearing the same thing over and over from different people, including her case manager, that she doesn't belong in prison.
