Default How Much Time do I Have?

Hi All - I'm facing 4 felony assault charges and at least 5 misdemeanor assorted charges as well. My probable cause hearing is Friday 9/21/12.

Can anyone guess or estimate how long it will be between the probable cause hearing and the court date and then sentencing?

Thanks.

Your lawyer can probably make an educated guess based on the time it took for similar cases to travel through that specific court. Many things can cause delays, including vacations and golf games, but seeing what has happened in the past can at least give you some idea of what you are looking at.

Thanks - I will certainly ask when I get a chance to meet her. she's a PD - pretty much fresh out of school and not much experience, so mu hopes are not very high!

Also - my case is Henderson County North Carolina; I really do not know what court it is.

New lawyers can tap into the experience of the other PDs who have been there for awhile. She will probably be trying extra hard to do a great job for you because she is new, and that can be a really good thing when compared to the effort some lawyers put into their cases. Good luck.

I dont know if sentencing is different from state to state but in the DC area, you are normally sentenced within 45-60 days after being convicted of your charges. I wish you all the luck as you go through this process!
