Yeah, I thought it was a good idea too....until I parked in a church lot across the street from the jail, sat on the hood of my car and held up an "I Love You" sign. It did not go over well with the Sheriff. Luckily, he didn't lock me up, but he did read me the riot act, made me get in the car & leave the area. The No-Contact order may have had something to do with it though

All in all, whether you have a no-contact order or not, it may be frowned upon by the facility.

I know in California (and I would assume for most fed facilities) you cannot. The reason being that this would be considered unauthorized contact with an inmate. Whether you or he would get in any actual trouble for it, I don't know, but at minimum I would expect that if you get caught you'll probably get a good tongue-lashing and finger-wagging and that, depending on state laws, you could probably be subjected to being cited or even arrested.

Essentially: this is a high-risk proposal and I would not recommend it. If you decide to do it anyway, be aware that this is an at-your-own-risk proposition and there may be consequences.

Why is your husband looking out there for your car anyway? Are you visiting? And where would you park the car? Would that be on prison property?

The risk to yourself if only part of the issue. Regardless of what you may or may not be able to do outside, the prison does not have to let you visit anybody inside.

I wouldn't....if they find out it's for him he can be in trouble because of it.

They just hate that! Imagine if your sign said 4:00....and something happened around that time. You might be the coordinator of a plot, an innocent, totally stupid, or anything in between. YOU DON'T WANT TO GO THERE! Or I love you could be code. They will charge you with everything they have available (and their firepower is considerable).

If they can't hold it or listen to it and inspect it, they don't like it. It's not authorized, and anything not compulsory is forbidden (to paraphrase 1984).

I honestly don't know the closest I ever came to something like that my husband was in county. I would hear banging on the windows he could see me but I couldn't see him. Any way I would be walking by and knew he could see me I'd pretend I had to tie my shoe and he would bang harder on the window!!!LOL I didn't hold up any signs and I never did anything that would keep me from visiting.

This wouldn't be allowed to continue for long anyway. It's not much, but at least he has access to sunlight and can see something out the window. Segregation is bad enough as it is. To prevent him from watching, the prison could make his living conditions even worse.

lol.. I think she means he is watching the cars go by on the highway to see if she passes by while driving "why?" ... because what else is there to do?!

A lot of guys watch the parking lots on visiting days/hours, too. I know mine always wanted to know what color my rental car was because he could see the road in and I guess it was important to him to try to catch my car? Lol

To the OP-- I think what you want to do is actually kinda sweet. But as you can see, it could (and would likely) go horribly wrong. Save it for letters...in fact, take a photo of you holding the sign and send it in to him. He'd probably love it just as much.

I am glad that you decided not to.

If you are still considering, however, I would like to point out an even bigger risk:

I am sure that you wouldn't want to go through the motions and have him not see it! So you might be tempted to send him a letter saying "look out your window at 3:00 PM"

That kind of message to an inmate could cause all kinds of trouble! You could end up being denied any form of contact.

Yeah, it was difficult to get the NCO modified and heís in seg for violating it by calling me. He got a separate booking for sending me letters using someone elseís name for a return address. I canít take anymore time away from him. The letters into and out of seg are so slow! He went 2 weeks with no mail! I know at least 2 other people wrote him and he hasnít gotten those either.
I had those exact ideas of writing a day and time to look out. I know they read all my mail but his outgoing is not read, currently.
He said he got a break on second booking with time served but then he heard from a CO that it wasnít processed right and now he is in until Dec 7!
His birthday is Nov 26, I just sent some books through Amazon. They are used so I hope it still goes through!!

You have an NCO? Of course he is being scrutinized.Everything, esp is you all have history of not being able to follow rules.

Well, there's a small piece of information that would have been good to get out at the beginning - you had an NCO!

Stick to the rules!! Both of you!!! If you don't have a clue how to do that, you and he will be in trouble time after time after time.

And, incidentally, was it for being co-defendants or domestic violence or what?
