Post PA County Jails - Contact Info. & Driving Directions

The attached pdf file provides a listing of all the PA County jails--it includes the name, address, administrator's name, website link [if they have one]. It will at least give one a starting point!

Separately, Jail driving directions are provided within the PA DOC website - http://www.cor.state.pa.us/county - Click on "Driving Directions" and then scroll to the jail you are looking for. There is some other info. about county jails provided in this section of the website.

NOTE: To read the attached [pdf] file you need Adobe Reader--if you don't have this program, you can download at no cost at www.adobe.com--just click on "adobe reader". It is easy to download and install--a very useful tool.

Exclamation Bucks County Correctional Facility

aka Bucks County Jail.

Have you ever served any time there?

I served nearly a month there, and it's a cakewalk compared to the stories I heard about Graterford State Prison.

Survey:

How long have you served:
Which block did you reside in:
Food(Good, or bad):
Medical Care(Good, or bad):
Mental Health CareGood, or bad):
Guards Personalities:

Filled out by me:

How long have you served: 21 days
Which block did you reside in: D-Block, #21
Food(Good, or bad): Moderate
Medical Care(Good, or bad): Great
Mental Health CareGood, or bad): Good
Guards Personalities: They can be real jerk offs but some are known to help you out.

Default Bucks County Correctional Facility

Hi Everyone,
Luckily I stumbled upon this great site, and this is my first post. My boyfriend has been at Bucks County Correctional Facility in Doylestown, for 2 days now. I haven't heard from him yet, although I already wrote him a letter. I live in New York City, and I feel a world away.

Does anyone know anything about this jail? Phone call procedures, visiting, mail? Directions from the PA turnpike? Anything? I feel so lost and disconnected and when I call there they are of course nasty as hell! Any info someone can give me is GREATLY appreciated!!

Love & God Bless...
Jamie

The Bucks County Department of Corrections
Terry P. Moore, Warden
1730 South Easton Road
Doylestown, Pennsylvania 18901
Ph: 215-345-3700
Fax: 215-345-3846
email: bucksdoc@co.bucks.pa.us

The website gives very little useful information but you may want to check it out anyway.
http://www.buckscounty.org/departmen..._facility.html

The prison is located relatively close to the PA Turnpike. If you conduct a mapquest request, you will see how to get there from NY.

I checked out that site, you're right they give no info. Would you happen to know if the visitation areas are behind glass and how long the sessions are??
Thanks,
Jamie

You may need to hear from your boyfriend to learn about visitation details. Each county prison has its own way of doing things!

I double-checked the PA County Jail list and there is no West Chester County Jail. There is a Chester County Jail which is located in West Chester, PA [just outside Phila.]...I'm guessing this is the jail you are asking about.
Here is a little info....their website provides a lot more info!
Address: 501 South Wawaset Road, West Chester, PA 19382
Website: http://dsf.chesco.org/prison/site/default.asp
Phone: 610-793-1510

Bucks is totally behind glass. It used to be contact but they had a problem with drugs getting through so it isd all non contact. If you want to visit him from the PA turnpike take the Willow Grove exit 343 Willow Grove after the tolls go towards Doylestown. Keep going on 611 you'll see a Redners and UNOs on your right and the shopping center next to it is A Kohls right across the street is Bucks Prison. Hope this Helps

Default George W. Hill Correctional Facility

I have a brother in the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Delaware County, PA; he is a sexual offender in the "protective custody" area in the prison. I have read/heard many horror stories in the papers and from my brother - 5 deaths have been reported since the summer and I believe there is an investigation into the prison because of this. As a loved one, I am greatly concerned over my brother's safety - has anyone heard anything about this facility? Any help would be appreciated to ease my anxiety level a bit....

The PA Prison Society [located in Phila.] has official oversight and monitoring responsibilities for this jail--they are the ones who pushed up on the county [and now the feds, too] to investigate the operations of this prison. The prison is run by a private correctional company--Wakenhut [sp?]. Most of these private companies are focused on making money as their sole mission--so that will tell you a lot about how this jail operates. Protective custody should serve to keep your brother safe but he may find himself going "stir crazy" b/c of the isolation, lack of communication w/others, and very limited access to areas outside of his cell. You may want to find out the jail's policies/procedures for sending him books--typically you can send him books but they must come directly from source of sale. Many of us use amazon.com [or like companies] b/c it is so easy to do so.
You may want to check out PA Prison Society's website for more info. about Hill and/or give them a call. www.paprisonsociety.org

Elaine - Thanks for taking the time to reply - I will take your advice to heart. I am going to the PA Prison Society's web site as soon as I am finished with this; I am very interested in the investigation that is happening. Wouldn't you know that there was an article in the paper today about GWHCF - they are being sued by a family of a prisoner for "wrongful death" or something of that nature. I will also be getting in touch with someone at the jail re: the procedures for sending inmates reading materials, etc.. Thanks again for taking the time.

Penguin,
I can at least tell you about the visits. They are horrible. You have to go at least an hour or two earlier than visits start just to get in the line of cars waiting to get in. They only let so many people in at a time. Once you do get in you have to wait in another line to sign in, then another to go into the bathroom so you can remove your shoes and be patted down. The guards are rude and on major power trips. You are allowed exactly one hour to visit whether there are people waiting or not. The visits at state prisons are a breeze compared to George Hill. You are seriously treated as if you are an inmate when you visit. You can send books directly from a website(amazon, barnes, etc) If I remember correctly they are only allowed 3 a month. Hope this helps.

Ant102 - thanks for taking the time to also reply with your experience. I haven't actually visited at the prison yet - my brother doesn't want me to come - he said it will be too difficult for him to see me and then let me go. He did give me a heads up about the entire process, though, and it sounded pretty similar to what you said - he didn't mention anything about the removing shoes, pat-down, etc. I guess I still have a lot to learn about the whole "process" if I want to be able to survive being on the outside cut-off from him. I am glad to have found this site to talk with people and ask questions and actually get real answers...I am really glad that this is here, for all of us. Thanks again.

My fiance is at GWHCF. He is also in the "PC" block. Other than a couple of the guys steaing from their cell, there aren't any fights. As long as your brother doesn't tell others what he's in there for, he should be fine.

I hate the visits there. ant102 is right, the guards there are nasty...well nost of them. I think it's the ones that search you that are the nastiest.

If you need to know anything in particular just pm me.

I'm editing this because I just spoke to my fiance and your brother as well. Please pm if you want to talk.
