Default Does anyone know of this inmate or have a loved one...

Hi. Does anyone have a loved one in Staton? I was wondering if you could please ask them if they know an older inmate by the name of Rex? He is my grandfather and he's been locked up about 7 years now. I don't know if he has many friends or acquaintances there, but he writes to me regularly, just doesn't really talk about the facility or anything there. I was wondering if any of your loved ones shared the same dorm as him?

Also, is it true that only postal money orders can be sent now? They will refuse any other type of money order?

Thank you

I've been sending my son money orders from our credit union with no problems so far.

My son is in a Thursday night Bible class. He will tell him or help him write you. I am sending my son stamps tomorrow, so that should not be a problem.

Thank you for you and your son's kindness. I don't know if your son knows him or not, though, but my grandfather Rex is in C dorm I think, or at least I believe that is how it is classified. Not quite sure.

Thank you for the info. I appreciated it. As for my grandfather Rex, I think he is possibly in C dorm, so your husband may not know of him if the other dorms aren't in contact. But you might ask your husband anyway if you think to do so if you get the chance.

My fiance is in E dorm. Been there 20 years. He gets out in close to a year. He is a great guy. Some people call him "Old School" or "Bandy". Tell your husband he is a good guy to have on your side.

You can get online and put money on the inmates account with a credit or debit card. You can use a prepaid card to do this.

I always get a postal money order for no more than $199 so there will not be a hold of two weeks. Just go to the post office, fill it out (like addressing a letter, AIS number and all )and mail it

Just an update, my grandfather Rex Watkins (or dad to me) passed away in Kilby RCC on Sunday March 20, 2011. I am beyond devastated. Staton had sent him to Kilby hospital. I don't know what his last day was like. He died of heart complications. I am unable to cope right now. I won't have a chance to say goodbye and it's been so many years since I got to see him.

Awww honey I am so sorry to hear this. My mum passed away before I could say good-bye and I know how much it hurts. I hope you can remember the good times with him

Thank you so much for your kindness to all those that have replied. I truly appreciate it.

Does anyone else have a loved one in Staton that knew of my grandfather? I believe he was in what was called the G dorm, but he was moved around a few times. If anyone has a loved one that knew of him, could you please ask them for any little tidbit about him? I hadn't seen him in so many years before he passed. I am just grasping here at things to try to remember him and his life inside before he passed.
