600 inmates head to Louisiana

By John Davis
Montgomery Advertiser

To ease congestion in the state's burgeoning prison system, another 600 inmates will be sent to a private Louisiana prison, state prison Commissioner Richard Allen said Wednesday.

I heard about this a couple of weeks ago. IMO, this isn't going to solve the overcrowding problem. It just makes it worse for the families of the ones being moved.

Hmmmm...........I saw a van this weekend on I-20 that said Perry County Correctional.....wonder if that was some of these guys.......

I just don't understand why they move them to another state - especially one that is overcrowded also. My son is incarcerated in Louisiana and they actually have folks that are sleeping on the floor there! They've just recently gotten some of the inmates from the New Orleans area moved out.

I feel bad for these families whose loved ones will be moved to the far side of a state two states away....

Perry County doesn't have any inmates in their facility yet. This does not solve anything but help the state stay out of trouble with judges. This problem will not be solved unless the Fed takes over the system and releases inmates, which I don't think will happen.
Be sure to vote on Tuesday. Remember the ones who DID NOTHING about this problem. They want your vote...are you sure you want them to go back and do nothing again!

Well this explains to my why my husband was moved out of the county jail. He had been in county for 38 days and they sent him to Kilby yesterday. We are waiting on the response from the parole board concerning his parole revocation hearing. Hopefully he will not have to stay long. I sure hope they don't send him to Louisiana.

Has anyone heard which prison they pulled most of those 600 out of? Was it Limestone again?

Have they moved them? I thought they were going to move them. Maybe I just read it wrong. Denise, when did they move the ones from Bibb?
