You know you have friends in the can when you accidentally tell someone you'll "Jpay" a sum of money when you meant to say "PayPal".

You know you're married to someone in the can when you're never around on weekends to do things with friends.

You know you're living that outmate life when the two things at the top of all your birthday and Christmas wish lists are stamps and gas gift cards.

You know you're in deep when a friend says "I'm going away next week" and instead of replying "A vacation? Cool!" you say "Don't worry, I'll write you."

You know you've been there too long when you can prompt the new hires on the "intake for visit" process lol...and the experience staff "lets you do it!"
...I could go on and on...

You know you have a LO inside when while grocery shopping, you're mentally calculating the weight of your groceries so you don't exceed the package limit... (and you can shop in your sleep for the items that are allowed).

You know you have a LO inside when you mindlessly wear a metal free bra on the weekends - even when you're not visiting...

You know you have a LO inside when the phone rings, and everyone and everything stops so you can talk. When those calls come, and people are around me, they know to clear out! LOL

You know you're married to an inmate when your wardrobe has less than 3 items of "prohibited" colors and they're still hanging in the closet with the tags on.

You know you're in deep with an inmate when you answer calls from unknown numbers because it might be their night to lock in with the cell phone.

You know it's love when someone talks about when they plan to get married and you say "oh, remember, plus one for me!" because they'll be out by then.

Sigh.....you know you miss your LO when you've got the full bed and you still leave them their half even though its been years.

And one in general....you know that you're affected by someone being in the can when there's security measures at a public venue (ballpark, airport, theater, etc.) and you compare it in relative difficulty to getting into visitation.

Ugh....somehow double posted.....ah well I'll edit and throw in one more....

You know you know someone in prison when you keep your car key separate from the rest of your keys so you don't have to keep taking it off the ring when you visit.

You know you're with someone in prison when every time you shop you ask for extra quarters, so you have plenty of quarters for the vending machines at visit on the weekend.

You know your with someone in prison when you start using terms like, green money, street clothes, free world, etc. in your everyday vocabulary.

You know you're married to someone inside when you realize you haven't been to a mall to shop for shoes, make up or lingerie in decades.

(But you spend almost as much money on stamps and collect calls as you would be spending on lingerie!)

You know you're married to someone inside when a date consists of squirming around in a hard plastic chair they probably would have loved to have had during the Inquisition, then binging on way-overpriced junk food. Later it's going to the rest room when she can't.

Ha!
I knew I was the wife of an inmate when I found myself saying, with ease..."Hun, do you need to use the bathroom? You should probably go get in line, just in case" to a grown man.

You know you've got a LO inside when it is completely expected that his/her eyes are always looking over your head or scanning the room.

You know your loved one has been inside too long when he has the "prison strut" that only the trained eye can see.

You know you have a LO inside when you can maximize those last 60 seconds of a phone call. ("you have one minute remaining!"... 251 days until I NEVER have to hear that voice again!!)

Just took the metal clasps off my whole stack of envelopes for Yule cards, not just those going behind the wire (though there are a ton that are!)

When my husband got arrested I took over his side of the bed and the "baby" (now over 2) took over my side. I guess that makes it a tiny bit easier but I remember those first days when his smell was still on his pillow case and clothes. How I miss it sooooo much!

I won't violate policy, but I'll just say, for the record, that I have some very choice words for GTL and if I typed them all out the internet would break.

I will NOT miss that little "60 seconds remaining" or "this call is being monitored and recorded blah blah blah" interruption b.s. I get it. It's an inmate. Can you let us talk please?

You know when you're with someone in prison when your every moment becomes a countdown, you are always waiting. Waiting for your next call, letter, visit and then finally....hopefully their release.

You know when your married to someone in prison when you can't find your drivers license , but it's in your plastic bag full of quarters somewhere hiding.

You know your married to an offender when you fit a 10 minute conversation ending, into 60 seconds at the end of your phone call, can anyone say auctioneer?

You know your your married to someone in prison when you answer random calls no matter what because babes got an important message for me.

You know your married to an offender when you call up to check on lock down and they call you by your first name.

You know your a prison wife when you get cash back you ask for rolls of quarters.
