Default Edmonton Remand Centre

my loved one was transported to the Edmonton Remand Centre today after sentencing I believe. He is only supposed to be there a couple of days before being transfered again for classification. I have yet to hear from him and when I phoned to book a visit they said they did not have him in their database yet.
Can anyone tell me when and how often inmates in the Remand can phone out and if the only visitations there are between glass? Please and Thankyou

I know this is an old post, but for anyone else who reads this and is wondering the same thing, here goes:
As of today I know the following:

Phone Calls: The inmates get 5 free local calls that last 20 minutes to the same number each day.
It's $1.35 per local call otherwise. Long distance calls are allowed but I do not know the cost.

Visits: depends on what floor they are on and if male or female. However, the visits are every OTHER day and you can book 2 visits in advance. You should call right when the booking phone line opens in the AM to get your desired time slot. Those vary, also, depending on floor, male/female and so on. There are no longer any open visits whatsoever at the Edmonton Remand Center. I don't know if this will change when they open the new facility on the north end of town, though. Visits are currently conducted in little booths, through glass, on the phone.

Yes, it's an awful jail, I agree. Perhaps there were extenuating circumstances around the reason for you only getting so few calls. But I do know that the person I talked to was calling from the jail, 5 times a day and we talked 20 minutes and I do know that 2 of my friends said the same thing.

Cheers.

I have a question in respect to Edmonton Remand Centre and phone calls. I live in the United States right now and my boyfriend is there. He is having trouble calling me, can I buy a regular calling card and give him the information so that he can call me that way? Does anyone know the process for him to make international calls?

When my husband was there he was allowed to call but I did have to use telmate as well. Its easy to use...just put money onto the account and he will be able to call you. Its expensive but I'm pretty sure they can do international calls as well.
