Default Seizure medications not being given (suffering seizures) in prison

I have a penpal who has written to me for help but I don't know what to do or who to reach out to.

He is located in Arizona- Lewis (Rast Max) and he has a head injury which causes him to suffer seizures. His medications (he takes 2) expired at the beginning of March and since then he had 2 seizures. What can I do to help him get his meds back? Anything?

I called and left a message on the "friends and family" medical line today, but I'm wondering what I should tell them and who I can talk to.

Thank you for your help!

Arizona DOC's prison medical non-care has been sued by the ACLU.

Here is an article from TV 12 in Phoenix, KPNX, explaining that the Arizona DOC is not in compliance with the court settlement they entered into because of the mediocre medical care offered to prisoners.

@kevscousin,

Arizona's one of the locations you list for yourself. If it's the location where you vote, you could try asking your legislator for help. They'll probably need a privacy release from your pen pal.

Stop and ask yourself first whether you're sure your pen pal is OK with the risks of making waves.

Has he been putting in HNRs? if not, he needs to be. If that doesn't work, he needs to file a grievance.

A grievance, then an appeal, then all the way through the entire grievance process. That's what you have to do first before you can take it to court.

He's the one who asked me to look into it, I would never step in without his permission... and I'm still trying not to

We only write letters, I will ask about the HNR's and wait for his reply. He has filed lawsuits before against the state, so I am thinking he knows that part of things. I think he's just desperate to get his much needed meds.
