Default Sentence Reduction

I say sentence reduction and a better system set in place to move them into the work force to improve rehabilitation efforts.

I AGREE sentence reduction even for the VO what they call the 85 % law and help move them into better training and jobs

ABSOLUTELY! So many guys I ran into inside couldn't handle basic tasks, just turning them loose with zero support is totally stupid

Lightbulb Sentence Reduction

In my personal opinion and when it comes to my husband I feel that a sentence reduction is most important. Especially since he's been gone for so long and his time is slowly coming to a end. If it could be reduced it would come alot sooner.

Mine doesn't get any GT.. His is 10 mandatory. But if he did I think it would help him to not want to get in trouble while he's there.

Default More Important

I personally know how it feels to want to visit family. Yet, I think the system needs to reduce time tremendously. These sentences are outrageous and meant to break up families. Of course, it would be nice to see extended family and even conjugal visits. Yet, I'm certain those who are afforded the liberty to return home one day would say they'd like a sentence reduction. We just need those who sit in a position to make a difference to do exactly that.

That is a tough one! If an inmate doesn't have family that visits I am sure he would care less about the latter..

For purely selfish reasons I say EFV. For lifers, too. And it's not just about sex. It's about real intimacy.

I agree with you except most prisons in different states don't have family visits. Michigan is one that doesn't.

Reduced sentence, to have my husband home is way more important. I'd want the sex too but hey I'm kinda particular I like him home in our house in our bed, kitchen table, shower, anywhere but prison.LOL

As much as I'd like a trailer visit, I'm going to have to go with sentence reductions. The mandatory minimums in NC suck. Prisons all over the country are overcrowded as it is.

Default Sentence reduction-mother's view

As of today I have been very fortunate to have my son within a 30 min drive so we visit every other weekend. So I vote for sentence reduction. The least time of him being subject to all bad things that do happen in prison the better We want him home safe.

Both are important and can be advocated for simultaneously. Let's not forget that children need a real presence from their parents while they are incarcerated. We reduce the concept of EFVs to bring about sex, but it's about promoting real bonding time and some degree of normalcy.

I really would want a sentence reduction. I am 24 now..by the time my baby gets out I will be 38 ! I'm heartbroken to be honest, but I'm with him 100%.

I'd have to say sentence reduction but me and my husband already said when he gets to prison we want the family visits which is benifical cuz we are gay so I can actually give him a hug or kiss and much more.part of me says i could care less about the sex till he got home but important the other inmates don't know he is gay.so couldn't hug or kiss him even on check or hold his hand with other inmates in rm. Otherwise both are important family is to promote and keep good bonds with the family. 1st deal was 5 his attorney thinks he can get lowered so I'm thinking 3 or less at the most if not lower. Find out on the 24th In 16 days and that's before the 70% of the time so hopefully he wont be in there longer then 2 yrs give or take.

My love is a "lifer" in a California State Prison so lifers don't have that luxury. Even if he did qualify sentence reduction is the best way to go. What's more important? 40 hours with your loved one or forever with your loved one?

I know this is a "dead" thread. My perspective as someone not directly involved is that EFV's would receive much less public support than sentence reduction. EFV's seem like codding criminals - prison is supposed to suck. Sentence reduction is in synch with the present mood on overincarceration and saves taxpayer money.

Yes, I totally get it, that EFV's are going to create massive incentive for good behavior behind bars, keep families functioning, and improve reintegration and reduce recidivism. But I don't think the public will see it that way.

Default reduction

they say they are all for families staying involved but They go out of their way to make it almost impossible to reach them, see them, talk to them. They make it impossible get get rules and regs on a particular facility so you know what to expect and most (ive talked to 2 who where not) are snotty and treat family like they are all unworthy of breathing. Most frustraing because in my case, and many others im sure. My guy was not guilty. His crime was being to broke to get a good lawyer to defend him and was told to "fall on the sword" only to have the judge ignore the plea bargin. And now he and his family are treated as wicked people. I say get them out sooner so they stop ruining families!

I'm gonna say sentence reduction even though my husband doesn't have a long sentence I would still love to have him home sooner. If he were to have family visit I don't think we would even participate.

Sentence reduction. Mine has been in 14 years on a 4year-life sentence. He can't get good time.

Hard to decide. Less time would be great.. but it may be much much easier to get through the time if there are more visits, and a lot more privacy i.e. conjugal visits I WISH!

Sentence reduction. I care far less about sex with my husband than I do him being here with our family every day. I'm sure conjugal visits are great and all but I'm not packing 4 kids up for a weekend in a tiny trailer. I'd much rather have him home.
