Abbey09 posted back in Dec.'07 about the new Asst. Warden (a female) at the Fairton Camp and the crappy changes she made. Here is Abbey's post (she has two posts in this thread; read them both):

http://www.prisontalk.com/forums/sho...hlight=fairton

Aso, she has reduced visits at he Camp to 3 per month, Sat. & Sun. only.

She must be some piece of work! Where does the BOP find these people??

Hi Joe. Fairton has definitely changed. Visits were increased to 4 visits per month (saturday and Sunday only) while the max prison there gets nine visits per month. Visiting is extremely stressful. The CO in the visiting room is a total bitch and she makes it her mission to make every visitor feel like a criminal. I can tell you so much more if you want to know.

good question.. but believe me that the "privileges" add up to more money from the inmate to use them. BOP gets their $$ back for what little they give the inmates. The one I hate the most is the 300 minutes of phone time per month. When those minutes have to be shared amongst different people, they go quickly.

My brother is at Fairton. He says it is one of the "better" ones, for what that is worth. He is able to email, so I am able to hear from him daily and much quicker!!

I was there for a short time in the camp between 2004-2005 and it was a good experience. All the inmates got along fine, the guards were as good as they can be. I worked in landscaping so I was outside a lot. There is a weight pile(no longer allowed in most 'new' fed places) a nice outdoor 'track' to walk. They also have some inmates that train dogs for handicapped people, as well as a fish hatchery. It was tight, barrack style and there were around 115 guys when I was there. It really was more like camp than prison. That's if you're fortunate enough to be placed in the camp. If you're in the medium security section, I don't know. I saw a lot of ambulances coming and going from that place and rumors of people getting stabbed/beat up. Those could just be rumors though...

Hi, my son will be sent to a minimum security prison in March. He is awaiting sentencing in Albany, NY right now. Some of these threads say Fairton is low some say minimum. Which is it?
Fairton seems like the best minimum closest to upstate NY. His lawyer said to give him his top 3 (if there is such a thing!!).
Heard anything about Morgantown in W.VA or Otisville?
Thanks for all your help during this very difficult time.

Unhappy What is is like inside Fairton FCI?

My heart is in there now and I want to know what it's like for him. I have read about the schedule and the controlled movements but I want to know where he sleeps, is it a cell with bars, or a solid door? Are they dorms? He is in the medium security, not the camp. Anything anyone can tell me would help a lot. I am stressin....
