Wisconsin Prison & Jail Visitation, Phones, Packages & MailTopics / Information relating to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and local / county Jail visitation, phone calls, mail, inmate care packages, etc
I'm visiting for the first time to Columbia Correctional Institution and I'm wondering what it's like visiting there. I've heard some facilities have short tables that go up to your knees and have uncomfortable plastic chairs. Just wondering what to expect. Also, some facilities say you can bring in bills for the vending machine, while others say coins only. Does anyone know which it is, and if so, how much you're allowed to bring in? Some Wisconsin facilities say $10, or $10 per person. So I wasn't sure what it was. Thanks!
I can't answer your question about the tables/chairs, but I can tell you that you can only bring in coins - no paper money is allowed. Things can change frequently at correctional facilities so unless someone has recent experience at Columbia, your best bet would be to call and ask how much money you are allowed to bring.
