Default Transfer from Fulton?

Does anyone know how I can get a state inmate in SAP transferred to a different facility?

He can request a transfer, but if he's in SAP I highly doubt they'll move him now. Inmates often have to wait quite a while to even get into the program and are sent wherever/whenever there's a spot.

Ok thank you. Today was his first day in SAP do you think that would make a difference since he's not too far into it yet? I have to get him out of fulton it's 4 hours away and they won't even let me and our daughter visit because we're not "immediate family" and he said it's the worst jail in ky. I'm so worried about him. I'm scared if he stays there he's gonna end up doing something to ruin his chance at parole or his good time.

If he's in SAP, IMHO, they're not going to transfer him. If he drops out of SAP there are repercussions.

I'm not understanding the "immediate family" only for visits. I've never heard of that in a Kentucky facility.....and wouldn't your/his daughter be considred immediate family?

As much as I do understand the hardship of not being able to visit (been there, done that, for 18 months), the most important thing is that he focus on SAP, do his time and get the hell out on parole. SAP is intense, lots of reading and written assignments. Be supportive, write often and accept calls as you can afford to.

Yeah I've been on the phone all day trying to get a transfer but I guess that's not gonna happen. I wrote him a letter but just found out they're not even allowed to have letters or pictures, only post cards. But the visit thing is crazy I'm his fiancee and we have a daughter together but we're not considered immediate family? Phone calls won't be a problem after tomorrow I guess I'll just have to adjust to not being able to visit. It just sucks I've never missed a visit the whole time he's been locked up even when he was 2 hours away. I hope nobody's loved one gets sent to fulton mine has only been there 2 days and its terrible!

Not saying it will work for you but my g/f was there and she ask if she could put me on her visitors list as a friend and they approved it. May be that if he ask it would get done. Just giving my experience.

When you sign in be sure to mention how far you traveled, that might get you some more time. Most of the time my hour & ten minute drive netted me 15-20 min visits but if you are 100mi. away or further I think they give extended visits. Mostly depends on who you talk to and how they are feeling that day. In Ricky's World you never know.

I believe the distance traveled has to be at least 300 miles one way...at least for the prisons anyway. County full-service facilities may be different so it never hurts to ask for an extended visit

EDIT: Call in advance when requesting an extended visit....don't wait until you get there
