Thanks for the info, it's a lot to read through but will look it over this evening. I wonder if I could store my pistols in a biometric safe, and I could sell the long guns. Far as dress code for visitation goes, seems that I can wear black. So I purchased some plain black dress pants and shirt.

It will be up to the PO. They do have discretion, but mine required that I remove all firearms & ammunition from my gun safe, and from my home.

I just wanted to leave an update. My 1st visit went smoothly. I was able to wear normal blue jeans and a blue T-shirt with a Nintendo controller logo on it that my fiancee wanted to see me in. I was a bit nervous as this was our first date and 1st time meeting face to face. While we received quite a few stares when we kissed, no one made a fuss over it and I felt generally accepted. The drive to Fort Worth was almost 3 hours, but the interstate was moving at 80 to 100 mph, so I didn't spend any time in stop and go traffic. I plan to visit her again next weekend, and perhaps once more before her visitation changes to Sunday in April.
I'm feeling much better about our situation in general and ready to get these 16 months over with.
God bless,
Star

Default Looking For a Penpal for A Friend that is in Prison

Hey, everybody! I am writing for a friend of mine that is in prison and would like to have a pen pal who is transgender and would be okay with writing him and see where the next few years go. I am not sure how to do this or where I am suppose to find someone for him to write to or to write him. I can get all the information that anybody will need for this to happen or if anybody could send me information to pass along to him as well. Please help me find my friend a pen pal or a companion.

Has anyone done a non consecutive sentence and have any advice for me?

Try blackandpink.org. they are an advocacy group for LGBTQ prisoners. They also have a penpal list.

Depending on the jail size, most facilities separate weekenders or hold them in isolation. Best advice don't look for trouble and it won't find you. Just make sure you show up on time, don't bring contraband and follow the rules. You'll be fine and good luck. Also don't believe everything you see on Lockup, Lockdown, or any other "reality" show.

Welcome to Prison Talk. I hope your weekends in jail go well. Take your time to assess your situation before you trust anyone. You don't owe anyone an explanation about anything, unless you decide that you want to talk about it.

Information is best left on the open boards as it can help others.

Welcome Austin

I assume you already spent Weekend 1 of 9 in jail. Hopefully everything turned out okay for you and nothing traumatic went down.

I can't speak to sentencing myself, but given your circumstances your best bet is just to lay low and keep to yourself. The more attention you purposely bring to yourself the worse it could possibly get. No attention? Should slide through your time easily.

It's possible that the jail where you are may have separate housing for people doing "Weekend Jail." I assume you have some insights into that by now. If so, that would probably lessen the strain and help out.

Hope the next 9 weeks go fast.

Thank you so much! I haven't actually started yet. I go in Friday (barring a miracle - there are still things my lawyer is working on about the circumstances of the initial arrest and stuff like that). I'm nervous but feeling a lot better after the advice I've got from so many people here. Really glad I made a profile.
