Mail, in and out, usually slows way down during lockdowns. Some of it is caused by the COs, and some because the prisoners are limited to the stamps & stationary they have on hand, or can borrow. No commissary often accompanies lockdowns.

Once the lockdowns are lifted, there are usually huge lines at the phones and email terminals.

I'm always worried when there is no announcement on the website and I don't hear from him, especially when he was all depressed lately 9_9 Makes my hair turn white.

They used to put the red banner up on the website, when visiting is also cancelled that always meant lockdown to me...that always calmed me down so i knew it wasn't him.

Hello, I am sorry if my post is not at the good place. I am new here and I am French.
My husband is at Usp Coleman 2 in Florida. He used to call and email me everyday but I didn't hear from him since Friday evening. Does anyone know something about that or should I post this somewhere else? Thank you for your answers

Welcome to Prison Talk. Here's the link to the USP Coleman II web page.
https://www.bop.gov/locations/institutions/clp/

There are a couple of possibilities if he is unable to contact you on his regular schedule. The first is a prison lockdown, the other is a conduct problem that got him sent to the secure housing unit (SHU). He will receive letters, but phone and email communications will be stopped or delayed. He may not be able to write back right away either, he doesn't have access to his personal property, including stamps and stationary, plus his commissary access is reduced/restricted for purchasing more. SHU inmates are limited to one short phone call each month, and no email. Lockdowns interrupt communications as much as the warden wants them stopped, or severely reduced, for as long as the lockdown continues.

PTO members who learn of lockdowns will usually post the information here.

The bop will not admit to lockdowns, or that a prisoner is in the SHU.

I hope you hear from him soon.

Does it mean that if for now no one else is asking about lockdown in Coleman 2 currently there is a chance for him to be in SHU?

It's difficult to say if any other members are experiencing problems hearing from their loved ones. It could be that there is no current lockdown, or just that nobody has posted about it. Some prisons post a "no visitation until further notice" , in red, on the web page which almost always signals a lockdown. Some prisons do, some don't, so like most everything having to do with the bop, it can't be counted on.

Since the banner isn't up at USP II Coleman, my guess is that he is in the SHU, but it's only that, a guess.

Coleman has frequent lockdowns, it’s annoying. Right now I haven’t heard from my boyfriend since 3/30 right before 9am, so I just assume another lockdown.

Good morning. My guy has been transferred to Coleman 1. How is this place? Do they have alot of lockdowns like Big Sandy? Another question, do they allow typed letters there? I use an inmate letter service sometimes...thank you!
