Default Hi - sbidaho - brother in MS prison system

My brother was just convicted of murder and got 30 years. I am trying to deal with this situation and help my folks deal with this situation. Any advise would be helpful. I know we probably won't hear from him for weeks until they get him settled in somewhere, probably Parchman, but any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Sandra

Welcome to PTO!!!!!!!!!!

You will find lots of support and information here, and make wonderful understanding friendships!!!!!!!!!

Keep your head up, stay strong, and take it one day at a time.
It's not going to be a easy road, but with a little understanding it will be bearable..
When he is settled in, just keep in touch with writing and visits...

I know we will all need the support. Isn't technology wonderful that we can do this. Not to many years ago there wasn't this type of support.

Yes it is amazing.
It is amazing how many of us are out here that are here for support and understanding of our justice systems...
It's nice to know that we are not alone out here. It's nice when you can get on here and everyone understands what you are going through without judging you...

Welcome to PTO. Yes, the support system here is so awesome!! I hope you can get questions answered. One thing with the THOUSANDS of members, if one person doesn't have the answer, most likely another one will.

Welcome to PTO! I do feel your pain (my brother was wrongfully convicted and has been in prison fora little over 2 yrs), the only advice I can give is what I tell everyone. . . stay strong in your faith and close to God and He will take care of things. Trust me, He helps. If you need to talk I'm just a PM away. {{{hugs}}} to you because I really know your heartache!

Hi Sandra. Welcome to PTO and the Mississippi Forum. My heart goes out to you, your family and your brother. Since this is just beginning for you, I would like to suggest that you read a post in the MS prison profiles forum called Central Miss. Correctional Facility, Receiving and Classification 101 for familys. This post was written by a member who has been thru the MS prison system and it gives a great deal of information on the process and how it works.
