Houston, SE Texas Paralyzed by Floods from Tropical Depression Imelda

Houston and much of southeast Texas was paralyzed Thursday by catastrophic flooding caused by Tropical Depression Imelda.

The National Weather Service calls it “an incredibly dangerous, life-threatening situation.”

“Roughly two feet of rain has engulfed the vast, highly populated area since Wednesday morning, while some areas have seen over three feet,” the Washington Post reports.

One death reported so far, here at my location, we haven't yet experienced the heavy rains but have had a steady light rainfall.

I don't know....the storm just hit Ft. Worth yesterday on the east side about 2 pm with a bit of rain and all. I'm sure it's more intense in the Dayton area being that it's so much closer to the coast and all.

I'm too far north west to be affected. Ft. Worth is 265 miles away Houston where it hit, but thanks for asking. We got a little bit of rain from the storm for the first time yesterday about 2 pm. I left Houston in a sad state of mind a year ago on the 17th and came back to the DFW area, but with Hurricane Harvey that hit in 2017 still fresh on everyone's mind I realize that leaving was the right choice for me. That's too much natural disaster drama combined with the drama of a big city all at the same time.

I am in Paris (which is damn near in Oklahoma) and the outer bands of the storm hit us in the middle of the night. We are having flash flooding due to the heavy rainfall right now.

I work for the state and we are getting notifications left and right of government agencies closing due to flooding and damage (right now primarily the Houston and Beaumont areas).

Be careful out there. Its cloudy and muggy this morning, but that's about it. Hope Paris doesn't go through as much flooding and drama as some parts of the state
