Default Intro--sweetp4woody

Hello everyone, my friend was just transferred to MSP from Maryland. Extremely new to all of this and would like to visit. Could anyone recommend a clean, safe place to stay while visiting MSP? Thanks!

There aren't many hotels out that way. It is really in the woods, there is only 2 Dunkin Donuts in the last 2 hours of my trip!!! that's the woods to me cause there are 3 in less than a mile radius from my home. I come from Massachusetts and it is a pretty long ride for my little one so I was looking for hotels and didn't find much around that way.

Hi Sweet!

There is a small hotel in Warren called the Yankee Traveler Motel - right on Route 1. Nothing great and there certainly aren't any chain motels up that way. There is a beautiful resort - The Samoset Resort - in Rockland which is the next town over.

Your best bet for a flight would be to fly into Portland. Warren is about 1 hour and 45 Minutes Northeast of Portland. You could easily rent a room in Portland, leave at 6:30am and visit at the 8:30 visit.

If you have any other questions please let me know.

Sheila

Thanks Sheila! Still twiddling my thumbs and researching right now. Why wouldn't you suggest flying into Rockland?

Rockland is a tiny airport - I suppose you could though. There aren't any commercial liners that fly in there, but some local little planes.

Good luck!

Hello sweetp4woody.
There is a Hampton Inn in Thomaston, about 15 minutes north of MSP.
Also, the Yankee Traveler Motel is closed in the winter.
There are several motels in Rockland, which is just above Thomaston. They include the Trade Winds, Navigator, Claddagh and several more in the Camden-Rockport area.
For cheap, there's the Pioneer motel in Edgecomb, about a half hour/40 minutes drive to MSP. And a little further south, there are several in Bath, including a Best Western and EconoLodge.
Plenty of choices for you. Hope these help.
If you need phone numbers, directions, etc., be sure to pm me.

Good to know for those from "away."

I have never stayed there, but driving by it doesn't look like it's a good place.

Have a great day!
