I'm going to go out on a limb and guess probation but they are going to be registering for the rest of their life...

And, while booking mug shots are never flattering, the offender she was diddling must have been desperate...I'm not sure that employee would be attractive to guys in a bar at closing time.

And so.......she was arrested for having sexual contact/relationship with a prisoner!!! Since when did they start arresting TDCJ employees for that? I've seen several over the years that were fired and escorted off the units they were assigned to, but this is first time I've actually seen someone prosecuted. And she'll have to register.???!!! I'm sure this doesn't surprise many of you, but I don't know how many TDCJ employees I've seen over the years that were caught for this and terminated. And I've had more than one female C.O. that's shown that type of interest in me over the years, but I never made that mistake. It's tempting....there are some beauties that wear grey, but if one of us in white gets caught doing something with someone in grey....Well....it ain't good.

It happens frequently in women's facilities...but it is a felony regardless of the sex of the employee OR the offender. Registration would depend on which provisions of law she actually gets charged and convicted under...

Personally, I wish they would prosecute every single one of them that engages in sexual improprieties or got caught bringing in contraband.

The irony of this being at Gib Lewis is that it was where we housed one of the first CO's to be prosecuted and sent to prison for bribery when tobacco was first banned in TDCJ...of course Nolan didn't do himself any favors when he popped the IAD investigator as he came off the witness stand. And it was also the unit where we tried to maintain a conviction for the first inmate knowingly having sex without disclosing his HIV status- we got a two-year sentence but it was set aside by the appellate courts.

About a month ago while I was at the Dallas Transitional Center I spoke with a lady who is the TDCJ monitor over the facility one day. DTC is about 300 yards south of Hutchins State Jail. I mentioned to her that I was assigned to Hutchins back in 07 when my mom died. She told me she was there at that time. She was a lieutenant. When I mentioned the person's name who informed me of my mom's death I could tell it surprised her a little bit. A female lieutenant down in the line building is the one spoke to me........and she was hard as nails when she did it. To this day I've never seen a correctional officer handle a prisoner in the face of bad news the way she handled me. She's dead, you're locked up, make a phone call or get the f#ck out of my office, I'm busy. She didn't say those words, but that's the way it went down on September 23rd 2007 for me.
Strangely enough, she too, would be caught in an affair similar to this situation, but not quite the same. She had been married to a Ft.Worth police officer back then, but later divorced. At some point she became involved with with a male inmate that had been assigned to Dawson State Jail. She picked him when he got out and according to the TDCJ monitor they were caught in a motel room together.
Back in 1999 she sued the state over an incident where she was attacked by an inmate. Evidently she suffered mental and physical issues that did a number on her. Migraines were one of the after effects mentioned and she won. Don't know how much, but it was sizeable.
She didn't get arrested for the affair with the former Dawson inmate, but the TDCJ monitor said the state froze her retirement account and she can't touch any of it.
So......strange things happen to people who get caught up in strange ways/activities.

They wouldn't be able to freeze the retirement account. The State lacks that ability under the law. And since Texas does not allow garnishment for civil remedy, even if they could advance a claim that the prior civil settlement was obtained under false pretense, the State would still have to litigate in order to recoup any funds.

That being said, the conduct would have been difficult to prosecute if she was not in a position of authority over the released confinee...but it is still enough to cost a job under the provisions of PD-22.
