Default FCI--Gilmer

Anyone on here from Ohio that needs to visit this facility? If so I would like someone to ride with me. I really don't need any money just would like the company. I would be willing to pick you up if you are on the way or close to me. Please respond back if you would like to ride. Or even if you know anything about this prison.

Thank you,
Teresa

Unfortunately it may be while before i can go see him we just got the background forms this past weekend I am going to send them to GIlmer tomorrow. I am new to this threads and PM si if you can PM me so I can see how its done I guess. Look forward to talking with you later.

Hi all,
I too will be going to Gilmer. He will be reporting on 12/13/06. Do you know how long it would be before I will be allowed to visit? I will be coming from Pittsburgh. Please keep in touch with me so that I too will not be going alone. I hope to hear from you soon.

Default Fci Gilmer

What is the process when an inmate comes in for the 1st time? My husband was transfered there yesterday 3/13/07. I'm so worried about him and I'm not getting any sleep and losing weight.

my baby is there also. i just heard from him today. he had to trade a bag of chips for a stamp because hes in solitary with many other guys waiting to get a room i guess. and they are not able to use the phone. but he said its ok there and the food is good. so i hope this puts your mind at ease at least a little as it did mine.

Hey Clyde!

Welcome to PTO and the WV forum. Make sure you post your questions in the Federal Forum. They get a lot more traffic there.

Good luck!

Cool Gilmer mail need regulations or rules

Hello, I hope someone can answer my question. My daughter is 21 and has had very limited contact with her real Dad he is in Gilmer FCI in West Virginia. We just started talking again and sent out my 2nd letter, the question I have is what I can send in his letter like perfume lipstick kisses or risque letters. I have asked him but just sent the letter out and I'm wanting to send him something special. I called the mail room and they told me don't put anything in there stupid like stickers. Lots of help that was. Made me mad. I did find out you can use markers!!!! My Daughter draws so she is plesed she can send him drawings. If anyone knows where I can find out what is suitable or a web site please let me know...

My husband is in Gilmer. He is in Unicor, they recondition military vehicles there. He said the food isn't too bad. He is in a two person cell. He says it's fairly quiet there and pretty clean. They are really strict on visits there, I can tell you that. Make sure your clothing is within the dress code, no capris or sandals. And they strictly enforce the the no contact during the visit, a kiss and hug when you enter and leave, and only hand holding during the visit. Any other touching is not allowed, and you could lose your visit.

Question Any info on FCI Gilmer in WV....please help

I'm just wondering what kind of facility is this. Is it known for being violent? I have a friend going to this facility and I'm curious to know what its going to be like for him.

My husband has been at Gilmer for a year and a half, and it is NOT known for violence. He hates it there, says that it is totally lame, and boring! Plus, he's too far away for me and the girls to visit. They have a lot of fog counts, because it is at the top of a mountain. He said it looks like they blew the top of the mountain out, and dropped the prison in, and the sides of the mountains are right outside the fence. It rains a lot, and they do get quite a bit of snow in the winter. He's just too far from home, and we've done this for too long. So, everything aggravates both of us these days! It is an ok place though. There should be no worries for safety.

Don't know for sure, but the H1N1 flu has hit the prison my son is in. He said he saw newly arrived cases of masks, a new brand of all purpose disinfectant cleaner, two showers installed in the gym, in case of large quarantine, and random temperature checks. He said one person was quarantined to a single room, with a sign, indicating the H1N1.

My grand son is at gilmer. they have a few cases of the flu and as a precaution they are wearing masks and are quarantined to cells for 4 days. thought he might be able to email me but has not since saturday. He said lock down for 4 days should be off monday.
