Default Treated so badly at visits

I was shocked at how badly I would be treated by staff when I visited my LO. I wish I would have been more prepared for that! I followed all the rules they posted online before I drove the 18 hours to get to TN and was told I had to leave because I was wearing a tank top under my sweater (who doesn't?). I am not the one who is in prison but they seem to take their power too far and treat everyone like garbage. Does not encourage a person to visit more often for prisoner morale, that's for sure!!
I miss him but absolutely hate the thought of going there again to deal with the staff...

Hi there I have just read the online visiting regulations for NWCX. If you read the rules before you went you obviously did not get as far as item number 2 with regards to prohibited clothing.

The full regulations are here:
http://www.tn.gov/assets/entities/co...kApril2014.pdf

It clearly states in the dress code item number 2 (page 12) that tank tops are prohibited and will not be allowed. Its in great big writing and that is why I havent copied and pasted it. The staff were just following the rules as written down.

Next time you go read the dress code rules and adhere to them and you should have a much better expereince. It may also be worth taking other outfits in your car so you change if there are any problems.

Okay...so, they are nice "sometimes"...I follow the rules but I guess it really depends on what type of mood or how they are feeling that day. Seems like now they try to find something to say to me at every visit. Spoke too soon.

I think that's part of the bad thing about. Visiting and clothes some places are stickers and other places are more relaxed it is at tnier discretion but if it says no tank tops then its no they don't care about how we feel as family members or your mans morale bring a couple changes of clothes in the car.

I can see how you wouldn't think about a tank top as an undershirt being against the rules, since you were obviously fully covered in a sweater. I know my LOs facility responds the same way though...according to the CO there it's because they can't police people taking off layers during visits.

I'm sorry you feel like you were treated poorly. I've been there and it can really damper vists. But try to remember why you're there. Not for them, but for your LO. All the extraneous stuff doesn't matter.

I can't stand most of the staff there, especially one woman.

I have been visiting for over 10 years now and in my oppinion the newbie officers that are very young are the worst. So disrespectful and rude.
