I drive about 1 hour and 20 min each way. I go to see him once or twice a week. He gets 8 visits a month. I am done complaining about that small drive now that I have seen how far some of you have to drive to see your man.

After reading all the posts I"m thankful that I only have to drive 20 mins one way for visitation with my man, we were lucky that he got close to home. If he would have been sent to the other facility it would have been a 3 hr drive one way. So safe travels to you all!!

I USED to drive less than an hour when he was in sing Sing, but NOW the DOC has so wonderfully moved him to CLinton so it is about a 6 hour drive with stopping. IT's a hard trip with my 4 1/2 year old. We do get a hotel and stay to visit for 2 days. I miss him so much b/c I can't do the weekly visits I used to, now it's like once a month, and once the winter hits, it will probably be at least a good 3 months of NO visits!

I actually am not going to drive. i am going to take the greyhound which is 13 hours and then a shuttle bus another 1 1/2. it would only be 9 hrs if i took the chance to drive but i am not and i can't find anyone to carpool with even though i offered to pay for gas there and back.

I drive 3 1/2 hours each way...but that's going a little faster than the signs on the side of the road recommends. I can only go every 2 weeks. alternating Sat & Sun, from 8 am til 12:45 pm. Not NEAR long enough.

Default How far?

Before Mar.2005, I drove 4 1/2 hours every single weekend for a year and two months. I never missed a weekend. The camp in North Carolina didn't alllow double visits, so I could only spend two hrs. Since then, he has moved closer, thank God. I drive 1 hour and 10 mins every saturday for a two hour visit.

I drive 3 hours one way to see my husband. I leave at 5:00am and beacuse I live in EST and he is in CST I get there at 8:00am my time 7:00am his time. This gives me a chance to stop and I don't have to speed. I go on Saturday and stay from 8:00am to 3:00pm his time and come home. Then I turn around and do it all over again on Sunday, yes it does get expensive and I do get very tired but my husband is worth it. I have not seen him though in nine months he got a DR and they took his visitation for a year. I have never been away from him for this long in the 11 years that we have been togeather. So right now I wouldn't care if it took me 3 day instead of 3 hours, I would be there!!!

Missing my Man,
Brandi

I drive about 3 hrs one way. Only get to visit on Sundays and state holidays. Leave home about 6 am. We are only guaranteed an hour visit but so far the least amount of time we have had was 3 hrs. I have been every weekend since he's been there except first week, so that's 5 weeks so far. Will go again this week with my two youngest kids, my niece and great-nephew. Only stay overnight on holiday weekends when I can see him two days in a row. It is very tiring but very worth it because he was in jail for 11 months where we only got a 15 minute, non-touch visit once a week.

I have to fly to Washington Dulles Airport then rent a car and drive almost 3 hours to the prison. Then rent a room and drive back 2 days later. If I were to drive instead of fly it would take 18 hours. I used to have to do that but now I just break down and fly when I can.

Geez....I'm feeling guilty. I'm 17 miles from my husband. If the traffic wasn't so bad, I can be there in 15 minutes, but it's usually a good half hour or more when I go after work, because that's the direction rush hour's going too, and there's always gridlock about 3/4 of the trip. But I will NEVER complain about it again after reading this!!!!!

I DID move up this way to be closer to him, though, and for a million different reasons, it was a very smart move

Mine is 5 hours down and 5 back though I made it back in 4 hours but drove 95 to do it. I have gone twice so far this month but can not do that and am not sure when I can.. I am hoping for the week after next or around the first week of Aug. I have been renting a car and staying in a motel but that i expensive and have maxed out my credit cards so will be taking my bucket of bolts down and leaving about 4am and coming straight back. I do wish he were closer or I could find a place close to him which I am working on. Perhaps, if I found a JOB things would be easier but the thought breaks me out in hives LOL

I travel every 6 months...I take two planes and rent a car...trip is three hours from airport...stay at a hotel for the night...and drive back to the airport...and arrive just in time to go to work on monday. It all adds up too $600 just to see him two days!!! Anyone interested in carpool to Ogdensburg for Syracuse in Nov. let me know!
