Today at around 7:00AM my sister was taken to WERDCC. She is the only girl and youngest(32) of 4 children. None of us have ever been to prison, much less in trouble with the law. Right now I am just kind of numb. I read some scary things about female inmate deaths at WERDCC and that's not helping.

I don't know how all this works. At this point I don't know if she will stay at WERDCC or eventually be moved to Chillicothe.

She was sentenced to 2 years.

Honestly, I am nervous and I miss her already....

It is will all be ok. It is a hard transition to deal with at first but it gets better over time. If you need anything, PM me.

Hi, my b/f was finally transferred from Fulton Diagnostic to Farmington Treatment Center on Aug. 21. He also found out that his 120 days began when he entered Fulton, so that means his release date is Nov. 6.
Any one have any infor about the Treatment Center (not the regular correctional facility), please PM me.
Thanks

My friend Kristin is serving Life w/out at Chillicothe Correctional.

That place happens to be 510 miles from my place in Milwaukee.

Life takes some weird twists, doesn't it?

Where is your ex husband from origanally? I am from St. Joseph. You can call the prison here and they will tell you where he was transferred.

Hello Everyone, I just joined PTO. I am so glad you are all here. My son is in MECC in Pacific. He just transferred there from FRDC. Boy he hated Fulton. Can anyone tell me anything about MECC? He has a C3 serving a 5 year sentence.
Thank you

What do you want to know? My son just transferred from there a few months ago. He was there for about 5 years.

Hi MSVeggie,
I guess I skipped a facility - oops - he just left Booneville - that was the one he hated. He was only there maybe a month - but he said the difference between there and FRDC were dramatic. Booneville, you couldn't take your shirt off - they even had to be tucked in. Large, open rooms with lots of guys in them for sleeping. No privacy. The whole staff treated everyone like they were in high school.

Enough of that - on to Pacific. I have not heard from my son since he has been moved. In Booneville he was in APC the last 10 days of his stay . I called Pacific today and they said the whole place was in lockdown. I haven't heard if he opted for APC after a threat was made to him or if it was the phone call I made to the Mo. Constituents Office. I sure am anxious to talk to him.
They said at the Constituents office that alot of guys want to go to Pacific. Is it a good place for vocational? Do they get to go outside? Is there a library? How often can they use it? How are the physical surroundings? What are the visitation rules? I live in Alaska and can't see him till I go to Missouri in March but the rest of his family lives in St. Louis. I am relieved - that is only 30 minutes away.
I am sorry to ramble on and on.
Thanking you in advance for your help.

No vocational training as a level 4 camp but it has just changed over to a level 3 camp so I'm not sure if they will change that or not.

Yes they get to go outside. And the surrounding area is quite pretty actually. Behind the prison is nothing but a hill of trees. My son enjoyed listening to the birds and there was some wildlife occassionally that they saw.

There are specific times when they can go out on the yard. Can't remember the exact times though but it was most of the day as I recall. PoohBear's man was there too maybe she can help me out with this.

Visits are nice there. Best place I've been in for visits. The visiting room is spacious and there are lots of choices from many vending machines. About 2 or 3 times as many as where my son is now. One machine has breakfast items, several others have sandwiches and lunch/dinners to microwave. Of course they have the coffee/tea/cocoa machine. But here's the treat. They have an ice cream machine there. It's a big thing to inmates once they go some where that doesn't.

Visiting rules were more lax there than some places. It was nice because I didn't have to worry about my son getting in trouble if I put my hand on his back or something that he would get in trouble like where he is now.

Also if you get there early park at the railroad tracks across the street. Can't go into any of the facilities prior to half an hour before visitation. But the benefit, grab the sofa area. They have these really comfy sofa like chairs that sit next to one another in front of one of the TV's. We really enjoyed that.

Your family in St. Louis will have to choose between morning or evening sessions. And they can only visit once a day. However, you are more than 200 miles from the facility so before you come in to see him have him fill out a special visit request so that he can see you twice in the same day. You are allowed one of these a month. Personally as far as you are traveling I would contact his caseworker and see if they would grant you permission to have special visit each day you are there. But we can talk about that later.

Now you say he is thinking about going into PC? My son says that's not a good way to do your time. And being at a new facility you don't want to have others see you go in and then come out. Might be a problem. Why would he want to check in? You said someone threatened him in the last place. Does he feel someone will do that again?

How old is your son? It might give me a better idea of what his mind set is. Does he go to church services? If not he should start. The people there are going to be the best people to hang out with and make friends with. Still need to use good judgement but it's a place to go and watch how people behave. He probably knows all of this by now.

What housing unit is he in? One house is the honor house. And I can't remember but I think four house was the other one. My son was in one house.

Have you written him letters? You do have the address I suppose since you have the phone number.

Why are they on lock down? My son said before he left they were because of the change over from level 4 to level 3. I'd think by now all the level 4's should be gone.

If I think of something else I'll post it and feel free to ask any other questions you may have. I can tell you a few things in pm about specific people there if you want me to. Somw guards are great others have a bit of an attitude. The one in the visiting room that was there the most was very nice.

My Son-in-Law was in St Joseph Diagnostic Center, but we think he was transfered to Jeff City "the wall" today 10/30/03. Does anyone know about that prison in Jeff City?

BlkFmly....My heart aches w/ you. I know the road you are travelling, my nephew, whom we all hold dearly to us, is serving life at Missour Prison, the wall......The have a great visiting room, filled w/ vending machines, which is when the guys eat the best (besides food visits !), which is once every 6 months, we can take so much food, in so many containers, and have a meal w/ our loved ones. The prison is soon to close, and ine inmates will be transfered to a new built prison. I have heard talk, that the food visits might be eliminated. Please feel free to keep in touch !!

According to Missouri DOC policy, each facility is required to provide at least 2 food visits a year for inmates with good behaviour. Unless something has changed recently.
