Default Sneaking in contraband

So interesting/funny/scary?? Story.

I went to visit bf at the county's max security jail (short term sentence, but its a max security facility) which i always joke about bc the CO's are super lax, I've seen the trustees taking a stroll through the lobby, the ones who cut the grass are lowly supervosed etc. Anyway, takes an hour to get through check in for an hour visit and you have to pre register or you dont go.

You would think with the process being such a pain in the ass you wouldn't try anything??

Well, I've been visiting since august, nothing exciting has happened and then today we're at the visit when 4 co's bust or of the changing/patrol area, a pill goes flying through the air, 2 cos jump over the tables, the inmate starts resisting arrest and needs to be tackled and the woman is led off in handcuffs. Deff should have been a livePD moment

Without a doubt, I'm surprised they didn't cancel the entire session! It was just something like straight out of a movie

Prison #2 of 3 since we've been together took your photo holding a paper with your name on it in the office before you were removed by police from the property. Local 5 o'clock news aired the photo every time. You'd think that alone would be deterrent. But most every weekend we had new faces on the TV.

I've seen a lot like a woman who got arrested while in a visit who left her 1 3 & 4 year old outside waiting while she visited her boyfriend. I always hated county for that reason you had no real structure.

A few weeks back 2 women almost got into a fight for looking at her man. It was nuts.

I have seen people arrested for putting drugs in their kids diapers and shoes.

I've seen a few people get arrested at visits and visits getting terminated because of suspicion that something is going on. I can see the humor in it. It's like do they really think they are going to keep getting away with it. When this happens our visits are never Interrupted.

Funny in the sense that i Can't even believe it happened. It looked like it came straight out of a movie. Not like hahahahaha funny. Obviously I get that visits could be cancelled.. I also said that I was surprised they didn't cancel the entire visit.

The act of her bringing it in is not funny.

I have visited federal prisons 8 times and on three occasions I saw someone tackled or arrested in the visiting room. Its very traumatic especially if you have traveled a long way for a visit. I had flown , and driven for 15 hours and 8 000 miles.
I would never have found someone else's selfish and stupid risk taking funny or interesting in any way.
Scary yes ,Fortunately visits were not terminated but they easily could have been.
Its this behavior that makes visiting a tough experience for all.
No matter what security measure are in place some will still risk it.

People continue doing it because for the few that are caught, so many others get away with it. It isn't a difficult thing to sneak in contraband, but it's incredibly stupid, selfish, risk taking behavior. Smh!

Smuggling contraband is just plain ass stupid. You are now considered a threat to the institutions security. Let alone you will not be allowed to visit again.

We bring our young grandson often to visit his Dad - we have seen visits terminated but fortunately have seen no violence or tackling or dragging someone off in handcuffs.

Exactly.

I wasn't even caught. Because I was suspected I was viewed as a threat and treated incredibly disrespectfully. When we regained non-contact visits all but one CO treated me like I was scum. Frankly, it was awful, and when she got moved to another prison and I didn't get reacted to with the same disrespect and hostility, it kind of made me wish we'd been at that location all along, even if it would have meant fewer opportunities to visit.

Bringing in Contraband, as Patrick says, is stupid. Even being suspected causes enough problems.

I met a guy who hasn't seen his wife in years. But, still loyal to him.

Early in his bid his wife sent him a cellphone hidden inside of a Pringles can. Not realizing the prison opens all sealed containers.

End result, she got charged. Lost the privilege of visitation and packages.

A very stupid thing to do.

They x ray Pringles and find cellphones. They don't open. Seen it.

Last visit with my boyfriend: you know how they asked you if you have any stuff with you like cellphone? Well... as I was going through the metal detector the girl behind me had one and she could turn around and was blocked from visit. What happened to her afterwards I don't know because by then I was mauling Jeff already

I hear what you're saying. People definitely try to ruin it for everyone, and it's really frustrating. That woman who was led off in handcuffs is in some SERIOUS trouble, as is the inmate. It's unfortunate they put themselves in that position, as well as forcibly put you and everyone else in that position that day, too.

I can see the humor in the situation (although I HATE the situation, I could see myself chuckle and ask my husband "wtf?") So I get what you're saying. I'm glad your visit wasn't terminated because of some idiots breaking the laws some more.
