Default Does your LO have to serve 85% or less.

My fiance has 12 years but he gets to go up for parole after serving 20%, do you all's LO get to go up for parole after a certain amount of time serve or is it just straight? Just wondering about others sentences.

According to my hubby he has to serve the full 85%. I don't know though cuz he said he's gonna ask at his next committee hearing on the 12th. I hope he can get early parole but we'll see.

I would rather say HAS to go before the parole board...not GET TO, because I hate the concept of parole. It is not merit based...You can do everything perfectly and still get denied. It is an inhumane and cruel practice that should have been abolished nationwide, centuries ago.

My man has to serve 85% of 9 years, he has 3 yrs and 5 mths left. He's been before the parole board once already and was denied although he's a model inmate. He said gets another parole hearing and he could request an early parole hearing but says he'd rather not because it's easier to end back up in prison to serve out the rest of your time if something happens after he's released and it's really easy to go back in. He said he'd rather serve his full time and then be released then he'll only have to do his five year probation period which is alot easier to deal with. So I guess it's just better to serve your time.

@ Sweetswife, sorry that you have had bad experiences with parole, I understand why you would be frustrated if he is doing everything right and still not making it. Has he already been up for parole and didn't make it?.

@ R. Lindsey, how long has he been in so far? Yes, 3 years is not long at all and it would be good to go ahead and serve it out so that he can avoid all the hassle. I wish you luck with everything. I'm dealing with a parole hearing this month so wish me Luck.

I'm praying for it but I don't think so. He just plans to ask if and when he can. We have 12 years & 2 months left and he said he's not getting his hopes up for anything but won't let it stop him from asking. Monday he'll get his answers when he sees committee. But those hearings have always gone good for him cuz he keeps to his self & stays out of trouble. They always tell him he's doing real good & to keep it up. I won't know how it goes until the end of the week since he's not able to call though.

In Texas, it's 50% if it is a violent crime("3g"). Bill has served 12 1/2 on a 15 year sentence with 3 2year set off. Maybe this next spring, otherwise, he may make it the entire 15.

What's the point of parole if he's almost done the 15 years. Why can't they just let them come home when they make parole and not off set over and over again..

85%, no parole but supervision once released' it sucks!!
he's done 20 years already.... i dont understand the whole committee thing... he may get out a little early but the most they can hold him is 4 more years but they are making it like 2 years? i hope he is not getting his hopes up to be disappointed? but case manager said they were gonna start working on his release plan at the end of the year?!! i know that it takes time for them to do all they processing-- but then he was told that if some other thing goes thru- extra good time? im not sure what the case manager was refering to'
he could get out right away cause he did so much time....
so my best guess is 2 more years.....but not more than 4
