Default What Are The Chances of My Boyfriend Making Parole?

It’s been a while since I have posted but I have a question. My fiancé is up for parole in November. He was convicted of a non violent crime. Does that affect whether he will be approved? If the victim shows up do they have the last say whether he gets out? Lastly if approved, how long will it take for him to be released and what type of questions will the parole board ask? Thanks family for all your help.

Here's what SC Parole Board says about parole hearings.
https://www.dppps.sc.gov/Victim-Serv...ng-Explanation

and their policy and procedure handbook.

I moved your post to the South Carolina parole forums for better info. Hope that you can find some answers to your questions in here. (specific to SC)

First off I'd be looking at the links fbopnomore provided. See whats in there.
Second, while I know some victims are allowed to voice their opinion about a person up for parole, I dont think they are the be all end all.

they will likely want to know what the potential parolee's plans are, if they have support, if they have a place to live, family, job etc.
Remorse is also factored in there I think (but I have my own personal opinions on that)

Given the changes going on in South Carolina, there is a strong possibility he may be granted parole.

Quite a few people I know have been granted release since DPPP has made some improvements on their end.

As far as how long before he's released. It depends, I've had conversations with families whose loved one went to the local county detention center, was processed, and released. Then there are others who are granted parole/probation and are waiting at the DOC for at least 3 months while being processed and and then released.

I highly recommend you keep him very encouraged and focused on the process.
