Unhappy Intro--Samssister6118 from Canada

Hi everyone, I am new here. A little about my backstory and the reason I am on this. On October 2nd 1992 my 6 yr old half sister was taken out of her bed. Brutally raped beaten and thrown in the river behind her house to drown. She was still alive when she was thrown into the river. It became a huge news story in my city. The police did so many things wrong. Starting with ignoring the 911 calls toreporting that she was missing. Blowing the missing child report off for a good 3 to 4 hours. Which forced multiple calls to 911. An officer and a dispatcher making comments about how the mother probably forgot where she sent her kid, and treating it as a joke. To not properly protecting and processing the crime scene and evidence. Some of the evidence even to this day has not properly been tested. They didn't ask appropriate identifying questions to witnesses never checked identification of people who were in the home at the time of my sister's disappearance. On may 14th 1993 an innocent man was sent to prison for 25 years, after being found guilty on circumstantial evidence for my sisters murder. This man is due to be released this month. He should NEVER HAVE BEEN SENT TO JAIL TO BEGIN WITH. Myself as well as many many people in my city including retired police chief at the time and my dads entire side of the family including my father believe that this man is 100% innocent. Having the wrong person in jail has not given us closure. It has not allowed us to move on. It has forced us to continue to live this through this hell for the last 25 years. Things are so messed with this case that I truly believe due to incompetence of the police department that we will never know who is truly responsible

I am truly sorry to hear your story. I hope you and your family have been able to get support to help you deal with your tragic loss, I also hope the man who has served prison time is released and justice is done.

Have you tried the Innocence Project? They may be able to help.

I'm sorry about everything you went through.

I just realized you are on Canada. Maybe they have something similar in your country.
