I don't just go out of my way to watch prison shows, well, for the exception of Prison Break. But I will watch them if I happen to catch them on television, I also try to read articles about what is going on here in Texas concerning prison issues, basically for my own knowledge and to keep my husband informed on things, or to let him know I am being informed to help him in anyway that I can.

I completely relate. I've been watching this special called Lockdown. They go into different prisons and let you know what's up.

I am obsessed. I get sad if I have to miss an episode. I think it helps because it takes away the fear of the unknown for us, and it takes us into their worlds even for a brief moment.

Yeah I will watch locked up on MSNBC or Lockout on NGC but for the most part that is all I watch ... Sometimes if like 20/20 or dateline or PBS have specials on prisons or prison reform I will watch them too ....

Not obsessed but if something comes on I will watch it. It seems way different where my husband is though compaired to what I have seen with my own eyes and what I have seen on the tube.

I find myself doing that more and more. I think we do it so that we can have some kind of picture of what thier life is like in there. My man does not, or should I say, will not discuss it with me.

My interest hasn't changed, I have always been into things related to prison/jail! Although it's since he has been in prison that I started looking and joining online groups/message boards!

Default I was just about to start a thread about LockUp...

I wouldn't say that I'm obsessed but I do watch LockUp regularly...but it gives me mixed emotions - in a way it gives me some "insight" on what my man may/may not have to face on a daily basis, but it also scares me, worries me, makes me miss him that much more, hurts me that he has to be subject to those type of things, and pray that much harder that he'll be home with me sooner rather than later...

I'm definitely obsessed with the justice system and prison-related themes, no doubt. Video documentaries are my favorite. Sociology was my first major, of course, so maybe that explains things.

Ever since my son got locked up last year, I, too, have found myself a little "obsessed" ??..I dont know if it is really an obsession. I LOVE Lock-Up on MSNBC, I have season one of OZ, any TV shows about jails...cops...and rent all the movies I can that have anything to do with guys who are in prison, or who have had a criminal record...etc. Seriously, the guy I have dated for the last almost 6 years is starting to get mad at me about it. He thinks I have a "thing" for guys like that. I don't agree...it is just a way for me to see what my son is experiencing and I have also learned alot. I think it makes you feel closer to the real situation and helps you feel connected!!??

I am constantly looking for stuff that would help me out. I look for stuff I can send him as well as information for me to help him or to help me get through this. PrisonTalk has helped me so much and at least I know that I'm not alone in this situation.

Speaking of the MSNBC Show "Lock Up", they are having a "LOCK-UP LABOR DAY MARATHON" on Monday...but from now all through the weekend, there'll be sporadic showings of a couple prisons.

What I like about this show is it gives me an education about what my man (or any of our loved ones) are up against in prison. Without seeing an episode and seeing what SEG looked like, I couldn't comprehend why my man would sometimes get stir crazy and start talking out the side of his neck. You may not like to look, but you're intrigued because this show is BAR NONE. They break it all the way down. I think everybody with a loved one on the inside ought to watch at least one episode so the things he/she talk about in letters inside such a foreign entity to your mind any longer.

In case any of you who like to watch these episodes needed something to do for the "off day", you can get all caught up on episodes on Monday...now I'm going back to finish watching this episode covering the Kentucky State Prison.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS everyone.
