Default Food Stamps when in Jail

Hi, I have a Friend thats in Jail that hasn't been found guilty, waiting to go court. They worried about them cutting off there Food Stamps because there kids really need them at this time. Does anyone know how long you allowed to be in jail waiting to go court before they cut off the Food Stamps?

Welcome to Prison Talk. Here's what Florida says about food stamps for prisoners:
http://www.dcf.state.fl.us/programs/...yofChanges.pdf

Updated passages to include: Individuals of any age who are prisoners, inmates, detainees, or convicts placed under detention or custody of a Federal, State, or local penal, correctional, or other detention facility or institution for more than 30 days are not eligible for food stamp benefits.

I imagine whoever is responsible for the children while your friend is in jail would be able to apply for food stamps since the children are living in their household.

The kids should still qualify even though their parent won't.
