SCDC announced the death of an offender from Ridgeland Correctional I

SCDC announced the death today of an offender from Ridgeland Correctional Institution, who was positive for COVID-19.

Addie Thilavanh, 59, who had underlying medical conditions, died at a local hospital today. He tested positive for the coronavirus on Dec. 24 and was hospitalized Dec. 26.

As of today, 62 offenders and 20 staff members at Ridgeland have tested positive for COVID-19. Of those, 51 offender cases and 11 staff cases are active.
