SCDC announced the death today of an offender from Tyger River Correctional

Aug. 29, 2020
4:30 p.m.

"SCDC announced the death today of an offender from Tyger River Correctional Institution, who died from complications of COVID-19.

Larry Lee Lewis, 58, died at an outside hospital on Aug. 28. He tested positive for the coronavirus on July 20 and was hospitalized on July 24.

As of today, 421 offenders and 35 staff members at Tyger River have tested positive for COVID19. Of those, 133 inmates and 33 staff members have recovered."
