Default Heartbroken-when will my son be released?

I am so glad I came across this website because I feel so alone!! Maybe some of you can give me an idea of when my son should be released. He was sentenced to 20 months on 11/6/17, and credited 57 days in county. He was just transferred to a reception center on 12/4/17. I was told in the state of Florida he could only serve 85% of his sentence, but I don't understand what this gain time is. Can someone figure out a possible early release date for me? I need some cheering up, and something to look forward to. Thank you in advance.

Gain time is the 15% of his sentence that he doesn't have to serve, and he earns it if he behaves well.

So that 15% deducted from the original sentence is about 3 months, but I don't know how your state handles the jail time (whether it's subject to the gain time or deducted entirely from the initial sentence, or some other wrinkle).

So a general estimate would be 3 to 4 months time off his total sentence.
You'll know you've created God in your own image when He hates all the people you do.

In florida when they go to classification they are given a sheet tells them how much credit and a projected release date. It works out to approximately 10 days a month until you reach the 85%. You can lookhim up by his DC# and see his projected release date as of now, but the gain time, is not figured in. I'd say you can count on him doing 15 months. A pretty short amount of time.
