Default Robo calls

Im so sick of getting them. I get them on my cell phone all the time, but since I barely ever use that phone (except for texting, usually) those dont bother me.
Its the house phone calls. Good God I must get at least 3 per day. Sometimes back to back. Usually rings 4 times then breaks off, or it will trigger the answering machine but no message is usually ever left.
I never pick it up as I dont know the number and I am not expecting a call.

I dont think it makes much difference even if I had call blocking to try that.
Ive done the DO NOT CALL for both my cell and home phone.
Its crazy.
Was just reading about the FCC shutting down some of them, but for the love of god........STOP calling me!

Love how tricky they have gotten. Using something to make it look like a local call. Pisses me off.
Especially when its like 9pm.

I don't answer numbers I don't know because I don't want to deal with it. Yes, I miss important calls but no one has died because of it yet. Lol That's my solution to it. Mom has a house phone and it's relentless. I was glad to see the FCC is trying to shut some of it down.

I think they have to figure out something to make it stop. Its insane.
I dont see how they supposedly make any money off it. I mean come on!!

The partial messages I have gotten about saving me money on a medical appliance (that I dont need btw) or anything else for that matter......and of course Im afraid to actually answer the call as Ive heard they will keep calling anyway (now that they know they have a real number on their hands) or they will say to hit 9 to stop them......(yeah, riiiiight)
I dont usually answer unless I get ticked enough but recently discovered its not a person on the other end.

I don't usually answer numbers I don't know.....if its important, they can leave a message. But sometimes, especially if I'm tired and irritable () I'll answer, try to get a real person so I can blast them with profanities
I've also pressed 9 when instructed to be put on their no call list (already on the Federal list)....but they always call back

I don't answer any numbers I'm not aware of at ALL!! On my phone I have an app called ID that separate the robo calls. If the number has been reported to the company they'll make sure to block it. I don't have to block it at all and the good thing about it I don't have to worry about having loads of creepy voice mails anymore. Sometimes I'll have to block them myself which is fine!! But it can get annoying when getting 11 alerts that the number was blocked 11 times lol. It's annoying...but I just don't bother to pick up! If it's important they'll leave a message.

What I find really annoying is this...I have been a victim of identity theft 3 separate times (that I became aware of). On this last occasion, one of my cc companies urged me to put my numbers on the DO NOT CALL LIST as one precaution because they have noticed that once a victim you're likely to be a victim again. I took their advice. Ever since I have received constant calls. I didn't mind the house because we rarely answer but I never used to get them on my cell until I put it on that dumb list. They are extremely annoying!!!!!

I used to just ignore any numbers that I didn't know. I hate the sales calls and robo call all day long! Sometimes they call after 8pm when I'm putting my son into the bath and bed.
Since my person is in prison I have been answering all calls just on case it's something to do with him. He went through this thing when he arrived at federal prison after self surrender where he couldn't call right away. I had to wait weeks. I was so paranoid that I would miss his call that I would answer every strange number that appeared! Lol!

Use this as your voicemail/answering machine message. Make sure you set them to pick up at two rings.

Works like a charm. If you have neither, forward your phone number to an actual disconnected number.

You're welcome.

I have my iPhone set so it only rings if the number is already in my contact list. The missed calls still show up on my screen, but I don't even know I've missed a call until I look at the phone.

Just got another one. from the house phone, to the house phone.
Im ready to unplug it. This is just STUPID.

(oh btw, I didnt pick up the first time, my son did as he was so confused by it, wish he had not. Maybe it would stop)

and its stops at 3-4 rings. so the dial tone/busy sig/disconnected wont work

You can select the number of rings before your voicemail "picks up" the phone call. By recording the disconnected clip into your voicemail recording, it should trick the robocall bots into expunging your number from their database.

I know its frustrating to no end from the constant barrage on our privacy.

I don't answer my house phone anymore because these robocalls spoof so many numbers I'm not sure when to pick up except when it's someone I'm sure that's calling and not trying to sell me something or commit fraud. Sadly, I'm beginning to have this same problem with my cell and the block service doesn't catch them all.

We have caller ID at home and every day we get 3-5 spam calls. It's gotten to the point that I don't answer the phone anymore since they can even spoof nearby area codes.

I also got one on my cell phone today which was very odd. I didn't answer it and they didn't leave a message.

I am sincerely empathetic to your dilemma. I quit my landline many years ago, for several reasons, including too many robocalls. It used to be a problem on my cell phone, until I followed some good advice. Put that number disconnected tone on your voicemail greeting, and set it to pick up voicemail on the second ring. I haven't had to use that in months now, and will only get on a monthly average, 3 robocalls a month.

You should also report all the calls on 800notes website, or any of the others, so those spoofed numbers get added to the roboblocker databases. We're all in this together, no sense in not adding to stopping it.

but they spoofed MY HOME NUMBER to my home number. lol.
I do get calls sometimes to my cell number but since I dont answer it at all.......and I didnt set up my voice mail on it.... that one is less of a problem.

I dont understand why thing cant be stopped. Its especially annoying because Im usually trying to do something when the phone rings. I gotta go check who it is before picking up.

To add to it, most of the time its a recording on the other end, so you cant yell at them. lol.
I almost never pick up anymore unless its a family member or friend.

The utmost of aggravation, the phone companies could do something about the massive deluge of spoofed numbers, and that would require a contact ID rider to "hitchhike" along with the spoofed number. As it stands now, once a number is spoofed, the bread crumbs disappear that would lead back to the unscrupulous load of bread they originated from.

When I see my own phone number calling me, I already know it is just one of the voices in my head calling to complain that I'm not attentive to their needs. The nerve. I ignore of them equally, and they should already know that.

One of the numbers that calls us regularly (I assume it's the same people) spoof the same number as us up to the last three digits. It registers to a few neighborhoods over from us. Nobody over there has any business calling us (we don't know anyone or any companies). I answered it once and it was indeed some idiot in India.

If these clowns ever get caught, they should be locked in a room where the phones constantly ring, 24/7

The same number (it comes up as SPAM - Albany NY) called us FIVE TIMES today. So annoying! This is the worst it's ever been.
