Default New BOP director, General Mark Inch

http://thehill.com/homenews/administ...administration The article quotes Jeff Sessions: "As a military policeman for nearly a quarter of a century and as the head of Army Corrections for the last two years, General Inch is uniquely qualified to lead our federal prison system."

Do you think the new director will improve the current system? Will he make things harder or better for the inmates? What was his track record with Army corrections?

The closest thing I can give you to an answer is that there's a sub-forum here for military prisons where you can get an idea of conditions. I hope somebody can give you a better answer.

These people are guessing and have axes to grind. http://www.truth-out.org/news/item/4...-prison-system
Quote:
During the years when Inch was in Afghanistan, a UN report revealed widespread abuses. Although control of the Parwan facility had officially been turned over to the Afghan government in March 2013, the US still maintained a hand in the operations. Among the almost 800 detainees interviewed by UN investigators, one-third said they had experienced mistreatment, including being beaten with pipes, electrocuted, and having their fingernails ripped out to obtain confessions.
which might not be his fault at all. "A hand in the operations" doesn't mean control.

"It is of concern that General Inch has no experience in civilian corrections or dealing with a prisoner population that is not only much different than a military prisoner population in terms of literacy, drug addiction, criminal history and mental health but is also over 1,000 times larger," said Paul Wright, executive director of the Human Rights Defense Center in Lake Worth, Florida.

This doesn't answer anything, but here's General Inch's background:
