Question How far do you drive for prison or jail visits?

Two weekends a month I've been driving 5 hours to visit my man. I get a motel for the weekend and this way I can visit on Saturday & Sunday. With gas prices like they are now, my boyfriend told me it was ok to visit one weekend a month. As long as the letters keep coming and he knows I love him he said he will be just fine.

My drive is about 5 1/2 hours, and that's only if I don't stop and take the noted speed limit as a mere recommendation. I just came from my first visit in two months this weekend, and know it will likely be another couple months before I can go down again, which he understands completely.

It takes me approximately 5 days, I drive from Ontario, Cananda to Walla Walla, Washington! I only go once a year and spend two weeks there so I can get as many visits as possible, can't wait until August!

Mine is 2 1/2 hours there and 2 1/2 back. I hate the drive, he better be buying me a new car when he gets out because this baby is going to be breaking 200,000 by the time he gets out and it's a 2004

My drive is 4 1/2hrs each way. I also get a hotel room for the weekend and am only able to go once a month. Very sad indeed when he should have been so much closer.

So far I seem to be with the majority here! My drive is between 3 and 4 hours long. I would be up there EVERY weekend if the drive was less than an hour! I could afford it if I wasn't spending all my $$ on gas and hotel accomadations!

My drive is 9 hours there and 9 hours back! If I don't stop at a Wal-Mart on the way! If I stop it could be upwards of 10 hours!!! I stay with one of my good PTO friends while there for the weekend. I get to visit 4 hours both Saturday and Sunday. I only get to visit every other month at the most.

I drive 3 1/2 hours there and about 4 - 4 1/2 hours home, 440 miles round trip. We drive there every weekend. We do not get a hotel room we just drive up for the day. We leave the house around 2:30 in the morning and get there around 6:00 a.m. and wait in line until we get in and get to visit until 3:00 and get back in the car and drive home again, if we are lucky and the traffic is not as bad we are home by 7:00 p.m.

It is very physically draining but I need to see my husband and our daughter needs to see her Daddy so it is all worth it.

He might be moving closer to home within the next month or so, we are keeping our fingers crossed.

I drive 3 1/2 to 4 hours one way, and that is NOT going the speed limit and without traffic. I am sooo sleepy when I get there, I wish I could just lay my head over on his shoulder and sleep, but they wont let us. I wish I could get a motel and stay and see him both saturday and sunday, but where my hubby is, he only has visit every other weekend on sunday right now. and of course we have to get in the line at 8:30 and visit is over at 2 (est) And its just not long enough! Sometimes I get the "highway hypnosis" and have to pull over for a "power nap" so I dont wreck me and our 12 year old daughter.
Best to all of you, and safe traveling...my prayers are with you all & our loved ones.

I am in washington and my man is in California. My road trip is about 1200 miles one way...but that doesnt matter he is more than worth it to me. Its about a day and a half driving. I'm staying the weekend then going on to Arizona to see family and then on my way back stop in to see my baby again.

Is it July yet?

Talking ... how far I drive...

I drive 4 & 1/2 hrs there and 4 & 1/2 hrs back. I used to go twice a month till this guy quit in my department and the only day I had off was Monday ! Now I only work Sunday thru Wedsenday. So I either go see him on Saturdays or get up early Sunday morning drive to El Centro, sit with him for about 2 hrs drive back to L.A then on to work in Valencia by 7pm. By monday I'm sleeping all day then back to work at 7pm again. Talk about !
