Can someone please remind me how to format the mailing address on AMAZON.Com for NWFRC so that they are delivered by USPS and not UPS.

Thank you in advance

Mmmm kay. No response maybe if I phrase the question differently?

When shopping on Amazon.com do I format the mailing address like the following:

Doe, John J. T22222
PO BOX T22222
Northwest Florida Reception Center (Male)
4455 Sam Mitchell Drive
Chipley, Florida 32428-3501

Or

Doe, John J. T22222
PO BOX NFRC
Northwest Florida Reception Center (Male)
4455 Sam Mitchell Drive
Chipley, Florida 32428-3501

Thanks for responding.

I have always sent the following:
Doe, John J. T22222
PO Box - NO #
Northwest Florida Reception Center (Male)
4455 Sam Mitchell Drive
Chipley, Florida 34228-3501

I picked this up from a post here on Prison Talk and I've been told this will force it to be delivered by USPS. I've ordered a number of books for my friend this way with no issues. As everyone here is always very helpful others may have some different ideas.

Good luck.

So, there are only two Address Lines before City, State, and Zip...... Not three lines. So I put PO Box LCI, Lawtey Correctional Institute on one line and the street address on the next line, like below. It then forced me to choose 3-5 day shipping instead of my free 2 day prime shipping, which makes me think it worked...

Last, First #111111
PO Box LCI, Lawtey Correctional Institution

I'll let you know if it doesnt work in a week or two or three... Of course, the property lady told my husband today that they cant receive books from amazon, I think that i false information, hopefully it didnt change.

I wonder why she would say that about amazon. What would be the reason? Can you let us know if that is accurate or not? Thanks!

I told my husband this evening that I ordered Amazon books. He asked another inmate why the property officer said they couldn't receive items from Amazon, he said "she just be saying that." - The books should be there next week and it takes awhile for them to get transferred to property from the mail room, but I'll update this post whenever I get a final answer. I really think it's because Amazon tries to ship everything via FedEx which isn't allowed, but if it is delivered by USPS then all should be fine.

I believe that USPS delivers for Fed Ex on small packages. But regardless, if you only put a POB then they will be forced to use USPS for the final delivery leg. Your prime membership should work just fine although at times I found books from third party sellers were cheaper even with the shipping added.

On another note, if your shipments start getting sent back to amazon or a third party amazon seller, double check and be sure the address you formatted still contains all the information. In our case, part of the address was dropped off and it was the city Post Office that stopped the delivery and not the mail room. I was using One-Click Ordering and so the address didn't pop up for review.

So is amazon allowed or not? How about booksamillion? I just recently used them, and the tracking says it is in Jax as of today so I am assuming it will reach where he is tomorrow or perhaps Friday. I can let you all know if it was acceptable. I do know it is being shipped via USPS.
They sure make it difficult.

As long as you send it with the PO Box then the post office will deliver and its fine. My husband just received his from property today. However Id you order from B&N or Amazon and only put the mailing address then they send via FedEx and it is rejected.

I will remember that for when I use the gift card from B&N! Thank you! As for booksamillion, they use USPS.

No. Most state prisons have a street number.

Yes, some do because otherwise it'll go UPS or FED EX, and we all know DOC accepts nothing except USPS.

I just call them or add to special instructions: 'MUST BE DELIVERED BY USPS'!

The following is Amazon's policy:
Amazon.com delivers to penitentiaries, but we strongly suggest you contact the prison first to confirm that they accept deliveries and to note any special regulations the prison might have. Some prisons don't allow delivery of hardcover books. Others place a limit on the number of items contained in a package.
The label on the outside of the packages will indicate only the destination address, Amazon.com's name, and return address. Special labels or instructions to the packages can't be attached to the package. Gifts can't be sent anonymously to inmates; the sender's billing address will appear on the order invoice.
Because inmates cannot sign for deliveries, packages must be sent via U.S. Mail. While Amazon.com often sends packages via U.S. Mail, we also use UPS and FedEx. There is no way for customers to request a specific shipper. To avoid delivery problems, you might consider having the items shipped to you and then shipping them to the penitentiary via U.S. Mail.

Does formatting the address as you have above still work?

I will have to try your way to make sure! As of yesterday the message I got from Amazon was --""Your package was delivered. It was handed directly to a receptionist or someone at a front desk.""

Hopefully that means she got the book and I did order 2 more so I guess unless it says rejected she got it.
