Default New Rules of Criminal Procedure (2018)

I received this email from Middle Ground Prison Reform and thought that maybe someone here might benefit from this information. The attachment is not included here because to be honest, I don't know if it is allowed or if I even know how to include it. I would be happy to include it with some help, if it is allowed.................

This email and its attachment is directed toward those of you who may be helping someone in prison who is representing him/herself on an appeal, post conviction relief petition, etc. in STATE court. As of January 1, 2018, the Arizona Supreme Court issued a ruling to adopt the new Rules of Criminal Procedure. They affect anyone filing documents in state criminal court cases.

We recently contacted the DOC to ask if they had placed the new rules in the Resource Libraries. They assured us that they had done so. Just to be sure, we are making these Rules available to families of inmates who may wish to send them to someone who is representing his or her own case. THE ATTACHMENT IS JUST OVER 200 PAGES IN LENGTH.

Since these are copies of Rules of Court, there should be no problem mailing them to an inmate since you are not attempting to mail the BOOK which contains the Rules of Court. While 200 pages may seem a lot and may be expensive to mail, it will be well worth it to the prisoner you may be sending them to, especially if he/she has to meet filing deadlines, etc.

The Rules of Criminal Procedure should be available on any/every state's Court of Justice website.

Keep in mind that there are also Local Rules of Practice that are different for different jurisdictions. Those should also be found on individual state Court of Justice websites.
