Default Looking for info about the procedure on release day

Hi everyone,
My bf is being released in a couple months and Im trying to figure out what the release day will look like. What time should I be there? How long do I have to wait for him to come out? Etc. Any information and experiences would be greatly appreciated! TIA

Where is he being released from? Federal or provincial? If federal, he will be given info a few days before on how the timing, etc. would work so should be able to let you know. I can't speak to release from provincial jails but if you call the jail they should be able to tell you the general policy. It does seem that in any jail timelines are often not followed when it comes to things for prisoners....

Thanks for the info. I've noticed that too....
He is being released from federal. He was telling me that there was a couple people who were due to be released in a matter of days and still did not have all the details in place....hopefully this isn't the case with him 😕

Is he being released on parole or on stat release? If parole, is it full or day? If he's on parole, or even on stat, he would normally have to get to his community parole officer (in whatever community he's being released to) that same day. If it's day parole you have to be at your halfway house by a specific time. They normally do all the paperwork, etc., the day before - but the day of release he will still have some things to do, like return clothes and bedding. Normally he would be good to go sometime in the morning. If you are going to pick him up, as long as he knows when you're coming he can just hang about inside until you get there; after that it should not take a lot of time for him to get out. This may also vary depending if he's in minimum or medium; there will be more security in medium, obviously.
