Default Post release what next after paroling

I have so many questions since my husband is paroling within the next 6 months. My husband has been incarcerated for the past 18 1/2 years. Does any one know if California is still giving State Idís to those paroling? And if they are, will they be given to them at the time of release, or will they come in the mail? My husband had a license to drive when he was 18 and of course it has expired( itís been over 18 years since he has driven) will he have to do a behind the wheel test? Or does he get a drivers permit so he can practice again before being on the road again? I tried calling the DMV to inquire but it is almost impossible to get thru.

This is going to be a huge change for him and I want to help him transition with the least stress possible. I wonder how heíll do alone , when I go to work and with out programming since that is what he has done for the past 18 yrs. I donít want my husband to become depressed that he may feel he depends on me like a child.

I think he might have to retake the driving test.
For now, I'd go down to the dmv and get a drivers handbook. mail it to him.

For the state id, he will have to go to the dmv to get one.

The cdcr does nothing to assist. Or rather not much.
I think I recall hub having to attend a *class* right after he was released.
Its kinda like a seminar about what agency to contact for assistance. (its a required seminar) so he may learn places to contact for help.

Check this link, it may help. From what I understand they help them apply to get their ID before they are released. Good luck!
