Default how much are you in debt???

I'm watching Dr. Phil ( I know I need a life) and these people are talking about how much money they owe and what they need to do to get out of debt... One couple owes 38k..... which in my opinion is not that bad...

Me... I have a 13thousand visa bill, plus 18k in school loans, 7k in a car loan... and I'm just a one person income.... (a small income)

So... I 'd like to know if I'm the only one who owes a ton of money..

Hi Everyone!

Your credit has to be taken seriously, it means so much when dealing with financial success. It can be a deal breaker or seriously prevent you from getting the best deal possible.

Basically you have to be able to pay what you owe each and every month WITHOUT fail. So you always want to have more coming in than what is going out..that's how people can get behind by not following that basic principal.

I also learned that you can always improve your credit, never feel like it's too late. There is help out there!

The light at the end of my financial tunnel isn't even visible. LOL

I think right now we are at around $80K - Lawyers, Credit Cards, Business Start up's, court costs and fees etc..

Give em' what ya can and hope there aren't any major crisis's.

Maybe I should try the lottery. LOL

Man and i thought i was doing bad. I am sorry i ain't even close to some of you guys. I have bad credit and i am only 25. My ssn was stolen by this gir l used to know. She ruined it and i got most of what i could prove taken off. Then before my husband was incarcerated we were moving to my mom;s to save for our house. Well his so called friends took the keys and took everything out of the house and wrecked it so it went from just moving out to being evicted and owing them for that and damages. 1700.00 then i got a 100.00 verizon bill from up north when i was in college. i got a 495.00 bill for jc penney. I know this isn't alot to some of you but i am not working right now and when i so have money it goes to my daughter and my husband. I hope to disperse some of this debt. I want to call one of those debt consolidation but i don't have enough.

I've spent the last 15 years in/around the credit/collection industry. Good credit is great to get...hard to keep.

The most important thing to note? Paying what you can when you can will NOT protect you from the creditor taking further action. There seems to be a misconceived notion "if I'm making some effort, they can't touch me." This just isn't true. Don't avoid the creditors/collectors. Talk to them. They will take your silence as a bad answer, and there are a lot of legal remedies available to them. A bad mark on your credit is one thing, a full blown judgment is something altogether different.

Aside from prison issues, I'm also available for credit advice. I volunteer my spare time (what spare time?) at www.allexperts.com (http://www.allexperts.com/displayExp...p?Expert=41380)

I owe:
house 140k
car 10k
misc cards 2k

Everything else is paid for..... I divorced my bad credit....

kath
and will be happy to field questions there as well.

I am VERY pleased that I entered 2004 with only my house payment with a balance of $38,600 @ $313.01 per month (includes taxes). Annual payments for auto and home ins. is $800.00. All monthy bills (credit cards PG&E, phone ect) are paid in full each month. The business is debt free too.

After the divorce, it's taken 4 years and I'm a happy camper

Oh god, I think I have about $35,000 in debt. I don't know how the hell I'm ever gonna get it paid off. So far, I'm not behind, but I'm not getting anywhere. I make enough to make the minimum payments each month and that's it. No savings and no making a dent in this mountain. I'm considering a second job, but when I did that before, it took everything out of me.

I had an eviction too, do you still owe that by law?
My old landlord is sending me letters asking for 5,000, like I could give it to him!

I have at least $2500 in bad debt. I am not counting in the student loans yet because they are not due and payable yet.

Debt? Now that's a word I can relate to. I am behind in my student loan, I just got a 180.00 parking ticket, which I could just kick myself in the a** for. I'd rather spend that money on my kids or myself. I was out of a job for 2 months so I really got behind, but I am slowly but surely catching up. All in all I'm probably in debt a couple thousands. I guess I'm lucky that I can't get approved for credit cards or I'd really be in trouble. LOL
